Thanks Jon. That was my fear too with the part delays and having it drag on for months. Luckily the loss adjuster took this into account to while doing their appraisal.
Similar when my wife totaled her minivan last fall in a chain reaction crash. Front end was smashed and all 12 airbags went off. New ones were almost impossible to find and a dealer where we found one wouldn't even take a deposit to hold it until we knew how much insurance was going to pay.
We ended up getting a used one from Enterprise like we did before.
Upside, insurance paid a lot more than we were expecting or would have got on trade.
Good timing in a way since I was looking at dropping large coin on new rocker arms because it developed a serious engine tick, a known defect in the Chrysler 3.6.

Dave! Really glad you are ok and so sorry you had to deal with the loudmouth, lying, daughter of the lady that hit you. You will love the new Tremor. Did you get the Lariat or XLT? And white is a very safe color on any vehicle. Best of luck on getting your new Ranger Tremor and glad to see you back on the forum. You have been missed!!! I just saw your post tonight and about fell out of my chair! Again, so happy that you are ok! Take care my friend!
Thanks Phi!! It's a Laiat Tremor with the 501A and tow package. I might have to add a little money out of pocket for the difference between what I had and the Tremor but it'll balance out with me not having to add new tires and suspension almoner again.

Corporate drone. Dilbert's world is alive & well.
My '23 has the hood side weather stripping and the bumpers.

Humorous part is, I just noticed it this morning. Out of all the times I've looked at the engine, I've always been in the garage and the underside of the hood is always in shadow. Duh!

I'm not Steve but I have a 2021 Lariat Tremor......the rear headrests do NOT tilt down....so if yours do then take them!........you can take off the covers and swap them over (But it's a very tight fit and you won't have the exposed button)......(check out my post #45)
Loving my new Lariat Tremor & Modding it up already! | Page 3 | 2019+ Ford Ranger and Raptor Forum (5th Generation) - Ranger5G.com

most importantly, glad you're ok and we missed you!
Thanks for the link Bill. Honestly I don't care if the headrests don't match perfectly I just like the tilting rear ones.

One more question if you don't mind? I'm taking the engine cover and I know you need to take the screws/nuts but does it just screw right into the top of the head? I wanna make sure I bring everything to the shop and take it all in one trip.

I have the tilting ones, definitely nice for rearward view.

Dave,
Engine cover mounts with 2 of these in the head. I have an extra set of 4 of them. Just get the nuts and washers when you take your off. The nut on the one pictured is ether thread locked on or welded so getting them off is a cinch too.

Thanks Rick! I kind of figured that's how it was set with a locking nut.

I guess one other good thing came from this. Now my engine compartment will be nice and clean again and Sid can't tell me to "open your hood" when I post pics of how clean the outside is. ?

That sucks. I was going to say good time to look at a color upgrade (like Cyber Orange Metallic that replaced Saber), but looks like you found the replacement. White 501A Tremor, w/ Tow package is a good place to go. If you had the brake controller in the old one, see if you can get that removed. I doubt they included it in the price.

Glad to learn the truck was considered totaled, that would have been my wish also.

White Dave??? Really??? You feeling OK???
White is the easiest color to wrap. Need to start a poll on what color to wrap it. LOL.

I had a Thinkview U1000. It had the highest heat rating but I guess our summer heat was no match for it. They swear it was a fluke thing but I think the next one I might try the Viofo 4K dual channel. It's a lot cheaper and it looks like they've raised their heat ratings. The Blackviews are really good too and I don't think you can wrong with any of them. I'd definitely add the extra warranty though with the heat you have there too.
That is the camera I'm thinking about getting for my Ranger since it's one of the options from Ford.

I have the same system. Front and back cameras. I really like them and coming on two year now running it. The video clarity is as good as it gets. Keeping my fingers crossed it doesn’t go belly up like Dave’s. But I don’t think these were designed with easy bake oven in mind… ?

My 2020 had a recall and they replaced the fixed rear headrests with tilting ones.
I had removed the fixed ones to see better and no one is likely to sit in the back anyway.
The tilting ones just stay tilted down all the time.

Yeah I have the window vent covers so I can keep the windows open some and keep it from getting too much like a green house in the truck. I also put the accessory sunshade in the front window, not sure how the camera fit will effect that.

This is how I mounted my front. Modified the plastic cover for the wires to tuck behind and then up there under the roof cubby.
