Been having issues with my 2019 Ranger Lariat bucking and jerking when at low speed. Seems most common in a couple of situations. Going 25 mph and the truck is in 7th gear. Move the accelerator a little and it bucks and jerks. Same when in stop and go traffic.

Had this issue for some time and it got bac on a trip back home from our cabin. Called Ford immediately and I was slightly over the warrant of 60,000 (Had 60,300 miles). Ford dealership said they couldn't do anything as it was out of warranty. Called Ford and spoke with a nice guy who said Ford may be able o repair it free to me but nothing guaranteed.

Took it to the dealer today (first date they could get me in). They witnessed the problem and according to their machines, I have a bad torque converter and a couple of other things. Total cost to repair is around $3500. Dealership (who I like quite a bit by the way) called Ford and they agreed to pay $2000 leaving me with about $1500.

While this is a nice gesture, the problem happened before 60,000 miles and got much worse at the mileage mentioned above. Here are my questions

1. The dealership showed me a page of codes the truck kicked out when they put it on the diagnostic screen. I didn't get a close look but the list was long. Would those codes have a date associated with them by chance. IF so, it would be easy to show I had this problem before I called it in.
2. Any TSB's on something like this. I saw one for reprogramming the PCM but I think my issues are bigger than this.
3. I saw there is a class action lawsuit against Ford for their 10 speed transmission but it is only for F150's. I see many Ranger owners are sayg they have the same issue.
4. Suggestions on how to Ford to pay for the whole repair when I call Ford? Any information I don't have that I should get prior to calling? Any advice on how to sway them my way?

Agree with your frustration. However, it does seem like Ford is meeting you more than halfway. Even if the codes had a timestamp from earlier, that is not how warranties work :(

Sorry, but there’s your problem. Seems like you could have taken it before your warranty expired. You should be pleased with Ford for paying anything, because by the letter of the warranty they don’t have to.

Please don't take my comments as ungrateful. I had thought I had a drivetrain warranty for either 75,000 miles or 100,000 miles. (other vehicles have this, Ford doesn't) The dealer I bought the truck from offers an unlimited drivetrain warranty. /i thought I was covered. Yes, my mistake but if the codes ar time stamped, it would back up my story saying this had started happening shortly before I called it in. The trip I was on I was in places with zero cell coverage and no way to contact anyone.

Had the clutch and tranny replaced and she started having the same issues again. Ford had a recall on that issue but her car started acting up 2 months after the recall expired. Ford would do nothing. She had planned to trade that car in and get a new Escape but after Ford did what they did, she bought a RAV4 and will never buy another Ford. She is only 29 and would have been a long term Ford owner but no more.

Wife had issues Ford wouldn't take care of so she bought an Audi for her next vehicle even though she wanted to stick with Ford. She will never buy another Ford. And now Im having this issue. If Ford says tough luck one more time, looks like I will be a new Colorado owner as I was planning to buy the 6G Ranger but no more if Ford doesn't help.

Thanks for listening to the rant and I appreciate any helpful advice on how to best negotiate with Ford.

Mark
And this is exactly why I'm buying an extended warranty.

Geez man, I mean you can have whatever attitude toward Ford Corp. you like but you drug your feet and did not even know the length of your warranty. 50k factory powertrain warranty’s are Extremely common as well. This is on you.

Looks like OP had the very unlikely chance of trying new brand and getting a rare issue. I wonder if he can find an Audi pick up.

I didn't drag my feet. I was in the middle of nowhere. I called as soon as I could. I was over the miles by 200 or so.

Yes, I could have done better maybe. Yes, some of this is on me. If there is nothing you can contribute to how to approach Ford with this issue, I sure don't need to be blamed. I'm asking for advice, not blame.

And there is a class action against Ford right now and their 10 speed tranny in the F150. Many are complaining of the same thing on the Ranger tranny but it hasn't been included yet.

Could this be another EGR transducer problem? Symptoms sound similar to what some others have had. If so, it is a low-cost part to fix.

If I owned an Audi, my choice of pickup truck would be the world famous...(drum roll please).....
