Update: dealer called after lunch...now they say its the Slip Joint TSB and pinion. All covered under Ford ESP. Looks like several business days on parts. I'll be making use of a loaner starting Monday.
A TSB should have nothing to do with your ESP. Don't let them charge you a deductible.

Good to know. I’ll remember that and check it once they get it done.

Sadly this is one that only Aussies would get.
Because when I was a young bloke there were only 4 major manufacturers in Australia, Ford, Holden(GM), Chrysler, and British Leyland. Ford supporters (like me) liked to slag off at any GMH product and a common insult was due to their propensity to rust the were all barely "Holden" together.
My father was a Mopar man and our family did in fact own quite a number of Chrysler products whilst I was growing up. We also had a couple of AMC products. Although not a fan boy I must admit that several of them weren't bad cars at all. How Chrysler and AMC have fallen since then.

Update: picked it up today. They have redesigned the driveshaft assembly. They replaced the entire assembly and rear flange under warranty and listed the TSB#. I attached the parts list. No thunking or shuddering as of now.

Now at my tire shop getting new shoes. Will update that thread with pics in a while.

It’s technically not a redesign. It’s the driveshaft that’s in the Tremors. Uses a Rzeppa joint at the differential instead of a ujoint.

We had quite a few shafts replaced in Aus because the U joint lugs were welded on incorrectly out of phase. Doesn't anyone make anything properly any more? I remember my old Bronco used a double cardan joint and a one piece shaft which never gave any problems despite the steepish angle it worked at.
