The past 2 weeks my ranger (2019 with 78K on it) has been down shifting very hard to the point where it felt like it locked up the rear tires. I took it in today for have that looked at and the backup camera replaced.

I got the backup camera replaced under warranty.

As far as the shifting they said it didn't have any issues. and it was shifting normal I pick it up from the dealer, I drove 20 miles and it down shifted and had that feeling of locking up the rear tires. Now that happned now I have major driveline clunk.

What do I do now? I feel like I have fallen on deaf ears at the dealership.

If you have another dealer close by I'd try taking there and see if they can help you. If not call Ford customer service and open up a case with them. Hopefully between the two you can can something done as others have had similar issues. There's obviously a problem with some of these and Ford needs to step up and take care of them.

I'd take it back to the dealership.....grab the shop foreman.......throw him/her in the passenger seat and take 'em for a test drive and let them experience what you're noticing!

I plan on doing that after tomorrow after work.

As far as going to another dealership - this is the third one I have been to. If I goto to another one - I have to drive 75 miles one way.

Hopefully you get some help calling CS tomorrow. Just tell them everything you've done and what the truck is doing. Maybe they can reach out to your local service manager and they'll take it in again.

John @Racket has kept a pretty good detailed list on what's been going on with these so maybe he can fill you in better on what to tell them and what haas helped others.

You can read all of these threads...kidding...buy extended warranty and/or have it checked if you have warranty...or start saving for a new transmission...don't learned the hard way like me...

There are multiple lawsuits underway. Maybe there's a way to join in. Article from Ford Authority says, in part:

"The lawsuit names a host of models affected by this problem – the 2017-2023 Ford F-150, 2018-2023 Ford Expedition, 2018-2023 Ford Mustang, 2019-2023 Ford Ranger, and 2018-2023 Lincoln Navigator. The lawsuit was filed by two owners who claim that Ford refuses to replace these defective transmissions, even though they present owners with “life-threatening” safety issues. "

Ford is well aware there's something wrong but sometimes billion-dollar companies find it's cheaper to pay a few legal settlements instead of going through the expense of fixing cars/trucks already sold.

I have an extended warranty. The dealership said that there are no recalls and the software is up to date. My biggest fear is that it will blowup.

The truck has been great, it does everything that I want it to do and I cannot justify owning a full size truck since I am no longer self employed.

I just want it right!

Well, thanks for the shout-out I'd point to this post where I summarize what it seems the source and reasons for failures. Yours being a 2019 you will have the 'original' CDF drum that appears to be the culprit.

Under the Issues and TSB post @Msfitoy started is a lot of other people's experiences. My only concern is what an actual repair may cost. If you can purchase an extended warranty it's a good idea not just for this but if your blend door in the cabin air system fails. Depending on how much other tech you have it's just a good idea.

Whether you can get it replaced free or cheap I can't say.

You might find the TSB and print it out to present to the service manager.

Assuming they take it for a test drive it may not replicate the same driving pattern. I always found it helpful to watch the owner walk me through a problem when I was a marine mechanic.

Yes stick the mechanic, in the passenger seat. When i was a mechanic, many times i told the customer

Drove fine for me. No problem. Take me for a ride so you can show me the problem.

Then bam, i saw the problem. The customer always drives different than the mechanic. So i would try and take the mechanic on a short drive so they see the way you drive and how the problem shows itself.

Even if they pay a few legal settlements those people can get their transmission fixed?
