Flushing at any mileage is a no go for me.I too never believed the “flush a high mileage transmission and it can die” thing until I had it happen to myself.
I’m now in the camp of do it every 30k or never do it, one or the other.
Hope the OP gets this resolved.
Its taking every fiber of my being not to comment on this?
Why did you change the transmission fluid at all? Service manual only states to inspect the fluid. Did you see something wrong?Truck has 70k on it, got a tranny fluid change and filter. Now truck shifts rough under load and is gear hunting. Never had an issue until now with shifting. Bottom of the truck is also covered in fluid which I’m not sure if because something blew or the techs left a total mess. See video, Had this happen to me yesterday. Is it possible this is normal for the 10r80 or do you think the dealer fucked something up
Pan was warped causing transmission to leak. Whoever the bozo was installing it cranked the bolts and misaligned the gasket. I’m assuming the rough shifts were from the loss of oil pressure under load. Dealer replaced the pan and gasket under warranty. Total stupidityI wonder what the outcome has been...
OP?
Glad it was figured out!Pan was warped causing transmission to leak. Whoever the bozo was installing it cranked the bolts and misaligned the gasket. I’m assuming the rough shifts were from the loss of oil pressure under load. Dealer replaced the pan and gasket under warranty. Total stupidity
Is it driving ok now?Pan was warped causing transmission to leak. Whoever the bozo was installing it cranked the bolts and misaligned the gasket. I’m assuming the rough shifts were from the loss of oil pressure under load. Dealer replaced the pan and gasket under warranty. Total stupidity
Trans fluid change at 20K, and then at 60K? Then every 30K? Why? That seems extreme and asking for trouble.why i do my own work. BUT unfortunately, these transmissions require you to drop the pan which is something i do not wish to do and have ford blame me so it's going to the dealer at 20k miles or so for it's first change. that way it has 40k miles on factory warranty to mess up- though i do have the eps out to 125k miles. I figure if they do it right at 20k miles then they will do it again at 60k miles, then 90k miles then 120k miles. Then i will do it myself outside warranty.
20k miles to get the break-in contaminants out, 60k miles to get fresh fluid in there. Then 30k miles after because gearboxes need fluid refreshments to go the distance. A poor mans flush would be best but a drain and fill every 30k miles is best for longevity of a transmission,Trans fluid change at 20K, and then at 60K? Then every 30K? Why? That seems extreme and asking for trouble.
lean mean fightin machine! one of my favorite moviesAll I can picture now is John Candy in Stripes. When he was in the ring mud wrestling and got busted by the MP's . ?
