Transmission Fluid Fill

Does anyone know about how much fluid it takes to move between the marks on the 10R80's transmission dipstick? My truck shifts harshly sometimes on first start up so I decided to check it. It's between the 5 & 6 mark on the dipstick instead of the 4 & 5 as the service manual states.

I even managed to do it without burning the piss out of myself!

Answered my own question. About half a quart. Ran to my dealer and grabbed one quart of ULV and a fluid pump. It did actually seem to shift a bit better after getting it topped off, but could also be placebo effect.

It was hot. I don't have the exact temp as I couldn't find the PID within Forscan, but it was up to operating temp or damn close. I drove it for a bit before checking.

There's been noted issues of Ford underfilling the 10R80 from the factory.

Yep. I would suggest loosening it the first time before heating up the exhaust. I used a flex head ratchet with a 19mm socket.

Yeah I made sure to wear gloves and a long sleeve hoodie to prevent the 3rd-degree burns.

Yes. Running, warmed up to operating temp (for maximum skin removal), and on level ground.
