Our trucks do have a low pressure fuel pump thats what folks are hearing. The high pressure pump is driven by the cam shaft so no high pressure till engine cranks.
The purpose of the intercooler is to cool the pressurized air from the turbo. A lot of vehicles had turbos without intercoolers. So no I don't think having a grill in front of your intercooler will damage your turbo.
Show them the page in the owners manual about engine damage from an over filled crankcase an see if they stick with the all is normal and no repairs quote.
