Is there still no information about a break controller or concerning wiring for an after market controller?

This is essentially what the “official Ford dealership installed” brake controller will be.

As for aftermarket options, I would like an answer whether or not the Ranger is pre-wired for a brake controller.

@heathconder said he would look at his truck this week.

Read this thread from the beginning and the other tow threads. It’s been mentioned before multiple times.

I would be unfortunate if the wiring was not already there, however, I have installed a full kit on three vehicles that did not even have the 4-pin plug or a hitch.
It is a full day install once you run all the wires, tie into the brake signal, install the relays, tidy everything up, etc... It really is not a difficult project for anyone with basic hand tools and some patience. Once you are done, you will feel good about yourself and know the rig much more intimately (which is essential if you spend time in the back country).

I can think of worst things to do on weekend than tinker on and customize my new Ranger.

The kit on e-Trailer has a pigtail like the F150 with the grey 1" or so rectangular plug. I'm going to dig into mine when the weather is nicer and see, or I'll wait until someone in some place sunny figures it out. :)

Pretty sure you have to splice the 4 wires under the dash in the Ranger, since they don't come with the harness in the glovebox. The Redarc one for the Ranger has the 4 individual wires at the other end of the plug that attaches to the remote unit.

After using the far superior factory brake controller on my F250 for 8 years, I am a bit bummed about the idea of having to go back to an accelerometer type aftermarket unit. I am thinking about trying out this unit after I reach out to etrailer to confirm it will work on the Ranger. It looks to be about as close as you can get to a factory style controller, using the vehicle computer to control the brakes based on vehicle brake pedal input:

I can confirm that there is no pigtail behind the glovebox of my '19 Ranger with the factory tow package. There is a group of 3 wires at the left footwell of the driver's seat which looks like it's supposed to be butt spliced, but I didn't have the time to verify where or what it was connected to. Below is a photo of that area.

My Ranger is currently being paint corrected, the front end having paint protection film installed, then ceramic coated all at my buddy’s shop (a high-end detailer) an hour away from my home, so I won't have it back until Tuesday at the earliest to check other places it could be like behind the stereo or in the area where the factory tow controller are on F150s.

I purchased the Redarc Tow Pro Elite along with an F-150 wiring harness weeks ago before I purchased my Ranger, taking the gamble that they probably use the same pigtail. I just saw that etrailer has a verified '19 Ranger harness adapter now so I might just order that too since it would arrive here before I get the chance install the Redarc. Worst comes to worse, if I can't find or there is no brake controller harness, I'll end up just directly wiring it to the 7-pin wires luke MrClortho mentioned. A weekend afternoon spent underneath my brand new Ranger doesn't sound bad at all...

Regardless I'll keep you guys posted.

Yes. My Ranger spec is:

'19 Shadow Black SuperCrew 4x4 Lariat
- 501A
- Sport Package
- 18" Magnetic Wheels
- FX4 Package
- Tow Package
- Running Boards - Black

Purchased not ordered from a local dealer on1/26/2019. I was surprised to see the butt spliced three wires since an earlier post had a parts guy state that it was supposed to be for the wire harness. Hopefully the pigtail will be behind the dash panel once I'm able to check :please:

You said you checked behind the glovebox & under the steering wheel. Under the steering wheel is the most logical place to check again.

I looked all over by the steering wheel, and under the glovebox. I don't see anything but the taped up wires. I'm guessing the other end of the plug is not included until the dealer installs the controller, or never and they just butt splice the brake controller into the spare wires.

Does anybody have the brake controller wiring diagram yet?
