Thanks. My brother in law had that bike sitting in his garage for probably 20 years. He got it as payment for some electrical work. It was a little rough but as you can see, it was restorable. Surprised at how available parts are for a 50+ year old bike. He finally decided restoring it wasn't something he was going to get to, so we came up with a trade. It was one of my projects after I retired.

I see you have a Focus ST. Here is my 2013, fun little car. Traded it for an RS. To be honest I miss the occasional WOT in second gear and dealing with the torque steer.?

Traded it for an RS

I tried that when the RS came out. Had the fever BAD. The Warden was having none of it. Zero. Zilch. She put her foot down on that grand idea.. Still love my ST though.

Some things Andrei says sometimes seem like...I dunno...like "this truck is rated at 24 mpg highway and we've never seen it"....dude, I got over 26 mpg more than once on long trips. But get this, with cold, dense air at altitude and flying down the highway at 75 mph, don't expect to match EPA numbers, especially when towing 1000 lbs over GCWR. Whatever I can get over the EPA rating I consider a plus, but if you want good gas mileage, get a prius!

I drove from San Antonio, TX to Dallas and back a while back. Since it was for work I was in no hurry and get the cruise at 70 the whole way. (even when the limit was 75)

IIRC, I averaged 28.6 on the way up. On the way back I was at 29.7 mpg before I hit Austin at rush hour. Even that only pushed me down into the 28.something neighborhood. This was running on 87 octane.
(Of course, this was going off the dash display, so YMMV...literally)

Was thinking more like "Oh shit, here we go again."

You do realize, if it wasn't for that high ass end design defect 2WD Ranger would easily get 57 MPG. And the 4WD versions would be at about 49 MPG. Even the Tremor would no doubt be good for 35 MPG or so.

And what if they had a one piece driveshaft?! And an ol' skool 3 on the tree transmission?!

I'm feeling dizzy. Just us on this forum could design a pickup that would get 85+ MPG.

Clearly those Ford engineers are dumber than dirt.

Yep. But we're only running about 42 mph. On the interstate. And in FL we do so in the left lane. With our left signal on.

Don't be too down about the RS. The all wheel drive makes it a much different car. It is also a fun car but to be honest, in my opinion the ST is just as fun, only in a different way. I tuned my ST and it made a big difference.

In all fairness, today I did get my mpg average....for a one mile trip....
Going up hill I got 20.0 mpg. Going downhill I got 9999.9 mpg...
I have a ScanGauge lll and when I go down a hill the Ranger is basically coasting, so it reads 9999.9 mpg.
Therefore, my mpg average was 5009.95 mpg !!!
It is in the gauge history, and therefore cannot be disputed !!!

That's interesting, the Global Ranger is rated - in Australia anyway to 3500 Kg tow and 6000Kg GCM which is ~13228 Lb so over here he would have been only slightly overweight. I can guarantee that at any time there would be any number of Grey Nomads traveling around this country that much over or more. At risk of being booked by the cops of course although they rarely bother caravans unless they LOOK grossly over weight ie trucks bum is dragging on the ground, or obviously carrying everything they own, and someone elses stuff as well! Combined with 40deg C + summer temperatures here no wonder so many auto trans get killed here.

How did you fit the tires with no lift?

no problem...they clear the UCA with not much to spare and not even close to the crash bars

I agree. But you know there are many out there watching this thinking they can go this fast or faster because TFL did it. It goes back to that common sense thing many don't have now. lol
