I've never even tried sport mode in my Ranger. Time to give it a shot. In my '14 Escape It didn't work like that. Shifted way too high in the rpms no matter what my throttle position was. Basically wringing the car's neck. It felt undrivable unless I was full throttle all the time.

Try it! It’s perfect imo

I am not an engineer or a master mechanic. So this is just one mans opinion. Use sport mode to your hearts content. Enjoy your vehicle. It is not a snow flake, it can take it.I like sport mode too, unless conditions are slick, then it tends to break the rear tires loose and the traction control nanny has to help me out.:). My other vehicle is a Focus RS It has sport mode too, and a 6 speed manual, and track mode and Drift mode. Its engine is very similar to the one in our Rangers. It has spent some time at WOT (wide open throttle) and is still running great at about 35 k miles. Just do your proper maintenance and enjoy.

Let's phrase this differently...the wifey surely has a gizmo in the night stand. It probably has multiple settings.
Which one do you think she rips on? I bet its burning through duracells like no tomorrow.
Enjoy sport mode and wear some tires out
LOL...she'd say "too much information!"

I enjoy Sport mode on most outings too, but I make sure the engine is up to or close to normal operating temperature. Not sure if that's necessary, but it makes me feel more at ease by getting the engine, tranny, and fluids up to temp.

Both my brand new F-150 4x4's had C6 3 speed automatics in which I installed B&M shift kits in varying shift firmness settings. On one of them, an '86 Lariat with a 351W, the 1-2 upshift was so abrupt that I was afraid of the driveshaft snapping in 2...

There is no way to compare the 10 speed driven in sport mode to those 2 dinosaurs, the upshifts, though firm are much, much more refined.
Much more in tune with the 21st. century, if you will.

I'll be 65 next month, long gone are those days of getting "rubber" on upshifts, thank God...

This is why i got the extended warranty from Flood Ford, beat on it and if it breaks they will fix it. Just dont go over redline(not like you need to), some ECUs have an internal counter of how many times you have over-revved into redline.

With forged internals, higher compression, variable valve timing, turbo, 10R trans, synthetic oils.....yeah I'd say she's built to take it. Just be sensible.

I don't know which thread this was on but someone was worried about carbon build up and the service manager at his dealership said sarcastically, "well don't drive it like grandma, let 'er rip once in a while". No truer words were spoken.

Guys, after trying out both D [Dork Mode] and S [Superman Mode], I finally settled on the pattern of using D for normal street driving and S for highway, freeway, mountain roads, etc. Sure, S mode will use a bit more gas and marginally impact the lifespan of some components, but "in the long run we are all dead...."

I think the OP has got a fever. Just don’t be in Sport Mode and play the Cowbells at the same time. That may be too much...

I have used Royal Purple oil and filters in my last vehicle, since new. This time I will use Amsoil, and their filter. Yes,those filters,as in most, have the anti-drain back check valve. BUT,both the Amsoil and Royal Purple filters have a microfiber filter element instead of paper. Much higher quality, with a price to match. But to me,money well spent. You get what you pay for,and when it comes to my engine/transmission/transfer case and both diffs,I will get Amsoil products. In regards to what I said about the filters I have used and what I will use, look it up on youtube. See the inside differences of the oil filters out there, and you choose.

I like royal purple oil and filters also. As for the transmission I read somewhere that the fluid is meant to last the lifetime of the transmission. Even though I don't really like the sound of that technology has come a long way and the way this tranny works with 6 internal clutches I think the oil can last much longer than the older auto trannys.

I like and use the sport mode quite a bit. Both my 2020 Ranger and 2016 Jeep Cherokee have the sport mode. Putting it in sport mode and mashing the pedal down sure puts a smile on your face.

I'm coming up on '69',and I tried to use sport mode once, but the country roads around here are crowded with logging trucks,so not really much room to let it stretch it's legs. I'm only going to keep it until they offer a diesel in the ranger, and then I'll buy that. In truth,I don't really need a hot rod truck.
