I went with 255/75 17s with 2.5 level kit. No mods and have plenty of clearance at full lock

Just be advised, that whenever you increase the aspect ratio and keep the width the same, the tire's tread gets narrower.

So all things being equal, a 255/75R17 has a narrower tread than the OEM 255/65R17...

Thanks for the replies on this thread so far. This is certainly uncharted territory for me still, so continued apologies for my "noobness." So I have found some wheels I really like, but they are 20's as opposed to the factory 18's my truck has (specifically 20x9, +18mm offset). It seems they should be a decent fit based on what I have gathered reading the forums, but what size tire would folks suggest assuming a 2.5" RC level kit and zero desire to cut/remove components?

Here are the wheels for what it is worth

I have to disagree. I can post a pic tomorrow of the 2 tires sitting side by side. The new ones are actually a little bit wider than the OEM but they are MT not AT

I said all things being equal- look up the specs on those two sizes in the same brand and model of tire...

Why would that be? Tire width should be exactly the same. Tires aren't shaped like inverted pyramids

I believe 285/70/17 are the largest you can do without bar modifcation/removal. Even then only some brands will work.

All I can tell you is mine had Toyo OC AT2 in the above mentioned size with a 2.5" lift and my clearance was paper thin on the crash bars. Once I went down in offset (then ending up at 0+) I completely removed my bars.

You got 285/70-17 on WITHOUT bar modification/removal? I had to remove all of my bars, tire air dams, and zip tie pulled back the felt linings to completely clear my setup...

Yes, my dealership had installed 285/70 and a 2.5" lift before I came along and purchased it. Here is the photo from March 2020 shortly after I brought it home and de-badged it.

I see...it's likely your offset were not messed with as you're on stock wheels...

Oh yea, any movement to negate offset would have put me into the bars. It was very very thin clearance with that Toyo selection. Some 285's won't work at all because no manufacturer has the same exact 285 spec.

When I installed 2" spacers the bars came out as that moved me to +5, then I got the RTR wheels which put me at 0+

Why did you install wheel spacers?

Because tire sidewalls are not straight lines- they bulge, and the tire's size is based upon the widest part of that bulge, not the tread width. The taller the aspect ratio, the longer that inwards slope from the fattest part of the casing towards the tread, thus the narrower the tread, all things being equal.
