Like 4000 times above, larger fuel tank... I know 350-400 miles is a long time in a truck cab (people like to stop every few hours) but with 7500# towing, you'd think they would want you to be able to go farther than 3 blocks between fillups. I will probably be looking hard for an extended tank in the next few years as I plan to tow a medium sized camper (4000#) and I suspect I'll be going 150 miles max on the tank...
+1,000 on this one. I'll repeat at every opportunity, this is the one thing which kept me from buying one strait away. All the folks who want the 2.7 engine, you'd be crying with that engine and the puny 18 gallon tank. I'l, throw in a heated steering wheel here too, but it's range anxiety which is keeping me in my '05 Tundra.

I think the rear seat delete is XL/XLT only.
I hadn't thought about that. I looked at the order sheets and if I'm reading it correctly, it appears to be an XL model only option.

All this discussion of the "small" tank is interesting to me. My '05 Ranger only has a ~19 gallon tank and it only gets 14/17 MPG. I typically only get 200-250 miles on a tank without towing a trailer. I'd get WAY less range if I were towing with that truck. This new Ranger will have a LOT better range for me.

Fyi, my manual says it's an 18.8 gallon tank.

After months of waiting for a VIN or a build date...
I suspect the most important thing missing on my new Ranger is the truck itself!:(

I'm 67 years old and I always drive with a 32oz Dr Pepper in the drink holder... 450 miles is enough range to prevent any anxiety I might have!:giggle:

Except we can't even get to 400 miles unloaded, that's the issue.

I expect to, but who knows ... I have to actually get a truck to find out, and that's not looking entirely likely!
If I ever do I will report back here!
I did finally see an XL coupe (SuperCab) yesterday, so maybe there is such a thing!

Unless you're in 4x2 trim, run until miles to E says -4, and drive only downhill, you probably won't see 400 miles to a tank.

SuperCab STX 4X2...
You may be right... but my last several new Fords have met or exceeded the EPA estimates when driven conservatively.
My 5.0 Mustang gets 27MPG at 80MPH on the highway but only about 16MPG in spirited driving around town, so :idea:I know my right foot may have to suffer a little discipline.

I thought that high rear suspension on the Ranger was so you could always drive downhill:question:

Very unlikely to break 400 between fill ups without getting really low. Almost 5k miles here and I've beat EPA estimates on every car I've owned except the Ranger. 360 is realistic with the 4x4, I expect 380 will be possible with the 4x2 with 90% highway at 60 MPH, but 400 is really pushing it.

I've made some videos on it:

I have to say I like the size of the fuel tank, don't like the idea of carrying around ~6 lbs per gallon I don't need. Then again I never tow and rarely haul anything so I suppose the first time I do I may be annoyed at the limited range.

Question: if you tow/haul on a regular basis why not just get an F150?
