Final update: 13 days after bringing it to the dealership I finally got my Ranger back today after needing to go and get a rental car thru Hertz (I got to drive around one of the Ford Edge SUV things for 4 days).

The dealership did the TSB 24-2101 repair order which my advisor told me was quoted to be $12,000 after parts and labor all said and done, luckily it was all covered under warranty. For anyone reading this or considering a Ford product make sure you purchase the extended warranty coverage. I'll start to do all of my regular driving routes again tomorrow and fingers crossed the issue is solved.

They also found another oil leak, this time coming from the rear engine crankshaft seal. Also repaired under warranty.

The next time the transmission acts up I'm having the truck towed and left on their lot.

How far did they go? It starts with a program update and ends with a new transmission.

1. Program update
2. Clean valve body
3. Replace valve body
4. Replace CDF drum
5. Replace transmission

My thought exactly but I used a different 4 letter word! :lipssealed: For that price it'd better be a brand new transmission, full detail and fluid changes for life.

I know some say the ESP is a waste of money but it's just like any other insurance that you carry. You hope to never need it but glad when you have it! I'm glad I purchased one.

MSRP on a new transmission for the 4WD Rangers is around $6000.00 now ( interesting that it was around $3500 about 6 months ago). So if it’s like most dealers they’re going to quote with a usually exorbitant markup on MSRP. Plus Labor and incidentals could then easily see $12K now. Even if it’s a repair the same goes for the parts pricing and even more labor/incidentals.

Well well well my friends guess what...? the transmission started acting up again today and the truck is back at the dealership. I'm going to call Ford Corporate and see about having the lemon law process started.

This time the truck again lost acceleration on the freeway and had no power for 3-4 seconds and then slammed back in to gear while I was in the #4 lane

Good luck to all who have the same 2021 FX4 as I do, I hope this doesn't happen to anyone and cause a major car wreck. I've been on the phone so far 52min with Corporate and have a case number issued

Did they repair or replace your transmission back in December?

Repair is what TSB 24-2101 called for.

As of today Ford has denied my lemon law claim. I’ll be trading this truck in for something with a better transmission that isn’t a piece of shit. I would never recommend buying a Ford to anyone looking for a vehicle

Trying to understand the timeline here. They repaired your transmission under the TSB in December. Then in January you had issues with it. Did they not find any issues or fix it ? If they fixed it is it doing again?

They repaired in December. Now still having issues with it. Dealership can’t or won’t find anything wrong with it nor replicate the problems.
