Cap off/seal the cab vents in the rear and it will blow your mind how hard it is to slam the doors. Assuming the rest of the door are closed and windows closed.

I assume you're talking about the ones under the seats. What did you use to do this? Tape?

They are behind the rear seats. Just look at the back of the cab if you google cab and chassis pickup.
I just remember doing it on an old regular cab pickup and it was almost impossible to close the doors, had to open them back up some. I bet cab volume size has a big effect on it, as its an air pressure thing.

In my forum travels over the years, I've read that blocking those cab vents might not be a very good idea - air bags. I hope they are never needed but when they are, the displaced air needs to go somewhere real fast and that's out those cab vents....

There's a number of reasons to not block those vents, airbags being the most severe. HVAC being one of the more mild and everyday reasons. Any air you pump into the cab needs to displace/replace the air already there. So the HVAC system will have to work that much harder to essentially compress the cabin air and create a positive pressure state inside, possibly prematurely burning out the blowers in the process.

I recently moved, and after having an In-N-Out on practically every street corner, I now have to drive 3 hours to get to one. Ugh!

First off, I was just jokin around. :) Just thought I should point it out.
The vents are there solely to make it easier to close the doors, and ofcourse airflow for the hvac as mentioned. I would leave them open because its incredibly difficult to close doors with them sealed, made that mistake before.

It would have zero effect on the deployment of the airbags. Airbags explode so fast that the amount of air needed to displace in that time interval is faster than the vent could support even 100% operational, mainly due to location. (i.e. by the time the pressure wave gets there the airbag would be already open)

My wife is just as guilty of the same thing. Her car does require a heavier hand though.

I put dynamat in my doors. They still get slammed by everyone who rides with me but the "thud" is a much more pleasing tone now.
Did you happen to start a thread on this, or take pictures? I'd be interested in this mod.

i dont think you were joking around, i think you re-thought your comments after the backlash.

about the airbag though, nope, the airbag wont be held back in any way, it's an explosion thats going to do what its meant to do. if the vents are plugged, then the secondary damage occurs from that rapid explosion...such as other windows blowing out from the pressure wave....now who cares right?...your air bag already deployed, your cars fucked up anyways....but your ears....can you handle them blowing out?nope....i dont want to take the chance.
those vents are NOT there solely to make it easier to close the doors
There won't be enough pressure build up from the displaced air of an airbag to blow anything out.
Worst case is it leaks past door seals, if any pressure was going to build.
