XM radio has always come on when I turned the key on in my 2021 STX Ranger. Then one day out of the blue FM radio has been selected as my source of music. I have to hit source and pick XM. This evening I tried to refresh the XM radio. That didn’t do any good. When the XM radio comes on now it goes directly to radio id number. I have to select a channel from my list. Next time the truck is started the process has to be repeated. I have been using a smart dongle so I wouldn’t have to plug in my iPhone for the last two months.

Well I might have done that by accident just getting out of the truck at the store but who knows.

It took 6hrs for the first reset to complete and have the screen come back to life. I had the truck on for the first hour then off for 2 then drove for an hour, off for 2 more then drove for an hour, then off for 10 min at the store, when I started it up it was black then about a minute unto the drive it came to life.

Second rest took about an hour.

All that being said it appears that has fixed the issues so far! I have started the truck 4 times now and all my settings are staying, I will give it a few days then report back, fingers crossed.

FYI, I didn't update any versions just did the master reset twice. (I'm still on build 22251).
Well it didn't last :( After returning from camping over the weekend I'm back to AM radio on start up.
Guess its on to cyan labs for an update.

Wondering if anyone is experiencing this issue. For the past couple of weeks, when I start my truck, I've been having sync issues. First and foremost my satellite radio is not returning to the last channel I was listening to when the truck was turned off. It either goes to station 0 or just says my radio ID # most of the time. Other times it reverts to an FM station. I never listen to AM or FM radio, so I then need to change the source. Thirdly, the display setting reverts back to Auto sometimes. I always keep it on Night mode as I prefer that setting. As a note, I've owned the truck for 3 years with no previous issues. I have called Ford as well as Sirius. They have done resets and refreshed the signal for Sirius. And I have reinstalled the latest Sync3 version and done a hard reset to the system.

I’m suddenly experiencing the exact same issue with my display. I never listen to the radio, but nonetheless, every time I start the truck, the FM radio is blasting away. I also keep my display on the “Night” mode. But again, every time I start the truck, it has reverted back to the “Auto” mode, which ends up being bright white. I wish I had control of my vehicle again.

I’ve recently started experiencing the exact same issues with the display on my 2019 Lariat Ranger. I never listen to FM radio, but every time I start the truck the FM is on and blasting. I really wish that I had control of the controls of my vehicle again.??‍♂

So,as someone who's had their truck back to the dealer for sync issues 6 times, all I can say is learn to live with them.My dealer not only did not fix my sync issues they also somehow deleted my Sirius XM.Now I still have intermittent CarPlay and no Sirius at all

Using Cyanlabs, flashed back to 222000, and it has been flawless since 7/22/23 for me.

Has anyone experienced this? It started about 3 weeks ago, whenever I shut my truck off and restart it the radio will default to an FM channel. Sometimes it will default to SiriusXM channel 0. If it’s on FM and I select SiriusXM as the audio source it goes to channel 0.
Sync is 3.4. 19 Lariat.
Yes. I've noticed this within the last two weeks. As soon as I start the truck, AM 560 comes on over the speakers. I never listen to the radio. This is worse than the radio coming on after a few minutes after start. Automatic SYNC updates are disabled, but I guess that is a null setting.

I'm sure that's helpful, but I don't even know what that means. I'm just a dumb guy trying to drive my truck...I don't know how to "flash it back to 222000".?‍♂
Moreover, it doesn't seem like I should have to do any extraneous programming or flashing to my vehicle. It seems like Ford should resolve it, with so many people all having the same issue. No?

It wouldn't be quite so obnoxious if it remembered the volume level for each mode rather than blasting random AM/FM noise tremendously louder than the same volume level playing bluetooth.

I don't disagree with you, but I got tired of waiting. If you take a half hour and read back, it's a simple process and any hurdles are addressed in the last few pages of this thread. You do what you want.

JUST got off the phone with a rep from Ford.
  1. Ford is aware of the issues with SYNC 3 Version 3.4.22251 (oh really? enough folks have said something)
  2. The Engineers are working on a fix for the issue. (they should have worked harder not to release the buggy software in the first place)
  3. Estimated time for release. . . . . . . . . THE END OF SEPTEMBER!!! o. m. g.
My faith in humanity is waning.

Ford allows folks to go into their shops, pay $ for a diagnostic, when the fix IS NOT AVAILABLE AT THE DEALER!

It's just frustrating to say the least. Get your $h!t together BEFORE you send software out to thousands of people. Many of which are just putting up with the dysfunctional software cuz they don't know what to do about it.

It's like my sweet Blue Bullet now has dementia....

So tempted to go to CyanLabs, download and install their version. But I'm afraid if I do that when Ford sends out their release it'll muck up my system.

Give me an old V8 with a distributor, points and plugs that I can work on please.

I had updated to 3088 a few days ago, and just downloaded 3188 today... haven't installed it yet. It's suppose to only take about 10 min to update since it's a small download.
