Guys, any help would be appreciated.I have a 2021 Ranger which has the latest updates to SYNC 3 and my iPhone is also updated.I've noticed that my SYNC Voice Control only gives me SIRI when I push the steering wheel control button as long as my phone is plugged in for CarPlay use. When I unplug my phone I can access Voice Control for the truck. Is there any way this button operates either/or without having to unplug the phone

Pretty sure thats the way it works. With Android as well.
I could be wrong here but I believe when I had my F-150 with sync 3 a short tap gave you Vehicle Voice Control and a longer tap gave you Siri

Mine works the same way with my iPhone.

however it may or may not work on other vehicles, it does not work that way with the Ranger, unfortunately.

AA/Carplay sit on top of Sync. So to voice control Sync, you've gotta disconnect AA/Carplay.

This is the correct operation, a short tap - Truck Control, a longer press Phone Control, I figured this out when attempting to figure out how to voice control climate and radio stations, it is very sensitive to length of press though, so it takes a few tries to get it down on how long to press the button.

This is yet another example of the Owner's Manual not being very detailed all it says to do is press button, but I can confirm a short press will give you truck control over phone when connected.

Well,I tried many times and it doesn't work. You need to unplug the phone in order for the truck commands to work.Once the phone is installed it controls everything

That is how it works. When running CarPlay, you only get Siri. When CarPlay is not runnung, then a short press will give you the truck/Sync functions and a long press will activate Siri on the bluetooth connected iPhone.

Well I stand corrected- I just hooked up via hardwired- you do only get Siri while hardwired - via Bluetooth short press - Truck and long press - Siri
Since I rarely hook up via cable - I did not know it would not work.

Yeah, that was changed on SYNC 4. There they have it set to where you can access the Ford VR regardless of CarPlay being active or not. SYNC 3 it's only Siri with CarPlay active. Common complaint, hence the change in SYNC 4.

why doesn't THAT get addressed in an update to Sync 3 then?
