Why not just use FordPass if your truck doesn't come equipped with it on the FOB?

Huh, I think I am going to order this thing today. So it looks like it is all about just plugging connectors in? No soldering or anything?

This was one thing I wish my XLT had for when I didn't want to use the Ford app or when we did not have cell reception when camping.

I honestly almost never use FordPass, second I'm not the type to walk around with my phone on my hand, but I always have my keys ready to go, so I like having the option to just press press press and get her ready to go, especially when its 105 degrees outside.

No soldering at all, unplug the OBDII connecter from behind, plug this in, and hide the cables. Quick programming, and that's it. Literally took me 5 minutes.

I can get that.

I've driven mostly intelligent access, pushbutton start vehicles the last half a decade. Key goes in my pocket when I leave the house, and I forget about till I take my pants off.

So much so that I often find myself staring at my Jeep dash for a second before pulling my key out to start it, it's doors are never locked.

The majority of times I use remote start it's from the app. I forget about doing it from the FOB because I'm so used to intelligent access.

But the phone is awesome for me. When I have to cover a route (gotta warm up them seat heaters for the back) or it's cold outside I start my truck @ the plant and it's ready to go when I get down to the lot.

Are the XLT keys chipped? Do you have to stash a key somewhere still?

I tried using the ford pass app and still do once in awhile when I'm far away from my truck and want to remote start it, BUT.... The app is slow and doesn't work a majority of the time, at least for me.

I found the Start X to be the best solution for me.

I've had it over a year now, It just freezes on the ford logo screen.
That's not normal at all. Even those who hate the app get further than that.

If you have the aftermarket remote window option accessory* this Start-X option will eliminate the window crack option of the remote.
Meaning you won’t be able to crack your windows because the remote start overrides it (same sequence to crack windows as it is to start).

I have both and unless someone has found a solution to this, it is what I’ve noticed.

*(Remote window module lowers windows and closes them with your remote.)

No key stashing anywhere. I am not sure if these are chipped or not.

Key is chipped, and needs to be in ignition to get out of park. Truck automatically locks when you remote start. So you need the chipped fob to open truck.

Are you able to set the timer on how long it stays on? I just ordered one.
