Is anybody pinned 10th gear at 6500 RPMs? With a tune I bet it’s over 200mph
Even of it were possible these tires would blow out before you'd hit those speeds. ?

Retired, work is a four letter word.
I have confirmed that 110 limit twice now, and that’s fast enough for me in a little pick-up truck. It gets going pretty quick but still handles like a truck. I’m about to hit that old “double nickel” myself, I have no business going that fast anymore.

i say 110 in a pickup style vehicle is more than enough. going fast in things not designed to go fast is asking for it. id guess an hour at 110 and our rangers would be hurting or all the govt nannys would kick on or throw codes and lights like crazy. ( if we didnt end up a ball of fire and smashed metal). i did 100 - 105 for about 45 mins a few years ago but that was in s550 with tires brakes aerodynamics etc. all up to the task of movin on.

Yeah I was starting to get a little high speed wallowing at 108 but with stock tires and air pressure… I really don’t intend to do that in the future. However these trucks pull hard for a 4 banger and I’m still amazed!!! I wasn’t looking for it but there it happened.. incredible…

very true! one thing that shocked me with ford engines after i recovered from gm sickness in my teens, fords pull hard in the upper rpms and keep doing it till the limiter. the gm engines sorta feel like they are out of breathe around 4000 5500 rpm.

Exactly.

Reaction time is greatly reduced. And the people ahead of you have no idea you are going so fast. They can change lanes in front of you and...WHAM!!

There is a video on Youtube of a pickup going over 100 MPH on a highway. The outcome wasn't good. Not sure if posting it is a good idea.

There's no way you're getting a Ranger to do that. Tune or not. The Ranger is not very aerodynamic. At a certain point drag limitations take effect. You'd need much more power than our little 2.3 can produce to get there.
I'm sure a few of us have fallen in with fast traffic and figured out these trucks can hit 90+ effortlessly.

I did minor mids and got a tune and yeah - 'tested' the R speed range of stock tires. The factory limiter is sensible.

So I've replaced the Bridgestones with H rated Michelin's and can say that on a straight level road the aerodynamics start to drag around 125 (tailgate closed, no tonneau).

I seriously hope I'd never need pursuit or evasive speeds in a truck but you know - just in case. Handling at the legal limit is marginal stock.

Are you sure? I need to find it. It'll prove how dangerous going way to fast on the highway is. There's no blood or gore. Just a crash.
