Just curious, do these DP's coupled along with a higher flowing exhaust cause boost creep? Has anyone checked or running a gauge?
Quote from the dead, but surely someone at this point has verified this with a gauge sans tune? You'd think with a free flowing DP, there may be some boost creep/spike on initial spool, especially at lower rpms where TGDI engines like to break rods or if LSPI can be an issue with these engines. I'm new to the platform so these comments are somewhat really posed as questions to anyone who might have an answer.

Best,
Josh

I'm fly. I'm pilot.
O P I N I O N Incoming:

With an electronic waste gate, I can't imagine this to be as much of an issue as with old school mechanical waste gates.

With that, that makes a lot more sense as to why no one is up in arms about it. I guess one could summarize that the ecu adapts fine to the mod but would be more taken advantage of with an update to the tune. If that is wrong, someone please interject! Otherwise carry on! The SPD part looks great imo.

The computer also use throttle angle to control boost, if you data log this truck you will see that the throttle body % will drop once desired inlet pressure is reached.

Unfortunately, my better half has informed me that the truck is too loud.. hah. I think it sounds great with the turbo whistle and the nice run on deceleration. Sooo I’ll be selling mine at a discounted price of $400? Free shipping. Let me know if you want it and I’ll send it out. :computerrage:
Wish my wife found my Ranger too loud. I can't ever get a chance to drive it.

Anyone running the SPD or AFE catted downpipe with the factory exhaust, have you seen and change on MPG? It just has my curiosity

Yes, my mpgs went down shortly after I did the install. I was mashing that peddle every chance I had

What about when you dont mash the throttle and try to keep it moderate?

In that case yes. Mpgs did improve. but not drastically but still enough to known installing the DP will pay off itself over time

What was the rough average increase?
Can’t give an accurate answer. I’ve got 9k miles, Installed around 2k along with a k&n filter and Flowmaster fx exhaust a few months later. I’m assuming the truck is still being broken in but since the DP I’ve gained around 3mpgs so far. Ide say with just the DP I was seeing an average of .5 before the rest of the bolt ons

Ok so more of a combination of things adding to it all. Makes sense to me.
