Hello all

Finally going to take the step and get a tuner for old Blue.

I am looking primarily for transmission shifting adjustment - say like the Livernois soft shift? Would I have to add that or is that their tow tune? Is there another brand?

Second since I'm not running stock tires I've adjusted the diameter. I am guessing that would have to happen again. IF I did that adjustment myself would that jack up the tune?

I guess I'm just looking for some feedback on which one would be the best and if there are any deals out there that someone may know about?

Thank you all!

Let's say you decided to go with Livernoise(what I personally went with). Nice thing is you simply purchase the tuner box from them and they will ship it to you. You have to download the information from your vehicle and send the information to them. If there's any modifications done performance wise then they need to know. This will help them make any necessary adjustments as needed for your tune. Once that is all done they will send you a minimum of three tunes. There will be two performance tunes and a tow tune. The performance tunes will have low octane from 87 to 89 octane and a high octane from 90 to 93 octane. The tow tune will be able to run anywhere between 87 to 93 octane with no question. This means you can be on 87 one day and go to 93 the next and then go back to 87 just because. It will be able to adjust without question.

As for the soft shift tunes, I personally did not run them myself with tow tune, but others have and they had to request it from Livernoise.

Also with the MyTouch calibrator from Livernoise you can adjust the tire size for speedometer correction along with the ability to reset both the BMS, clear KAM and clear a check engine light.

Hopefully that was helpful.

My 1st tuner was bought thru Steeda.com for @ $600. It was a massive improvement over the OEM tune. But, it was not giving me enough power. It pissed me off that my tuner gave me ½ as much power (for my 2022) as the 2021. So,,, I went with the Revolution Automotive tune and unlocked all of the "safe" power. The transmission part of the tune was a little too harsh for me on the 1st tune from Revolution Automotive. They rewrote the tune and now it's perfect. The shifting is awesome and it's fast AF for a mid-sized truck. I tested it after the re-tune to see how quick it was but I don't go around hammering it all the time. I just like how "effortlessly" it drives.

I use the Ford Procal and couldn't be happier. It made an immediate and very noticeable difference in power and shifting. It pulls my 6,000#+ camper up hills with no problem. Since my truck was still under warranty it maintains Ford's warranty. It is available from places like Stage3 for substantially less than Ford's price. It may not provide the absolute maximum output, but Ford engineers feel it still maintains the drivetrain longevity and it made a huge difference.

I don't understand this "multiple tune" concept. The ECM is capable of adjusting from 87 to 93 Lo octane stock, so any new tune should optimize AFR and timing from87 to 93 octane too. The transmission tables are all there from 4 wd low to 2 wd sport and 4 wd sport. Why not provide a soup-to-nuts single tune? It is nuts to be uploading one "tune" this week and another "tune" next month when the system is perfectly capable of being optimized for almost all variables.

I went through all the tunes. I liked the soft shift the best. I heard tow tune is good but it wasn't very peppy when I tried it.

If you don't use premium you can do the 87 tune soft shift and it's still does good like the 93.

As in you will have multiple tunes you can load into the ECM when you want to. For example let's say today I got the performance tune running but tomorrow I know I'm going to be towing a trailer. I'll make sure that before I go to tow that trailer that I'm going to load the tune mint for towing. Not hard to understand

We are in agreement, but the point is that you should only have to upload one tune and within that tune would be tables optimized for 93 Octane Sport, 93 Octane Towing, 87 Octane Sport, 87 Octane Towing, etc.

When purchasing a tune take your time and do some research, I have tried the top 3 tuners listed above and they all have strong points, but for my aggressive style of driving I chose Revolution Automotive the shifting-performance and gas mileage has been on point with my goals for my truck. (just my two cents )

Funny thing about that. Livernois has tunes that can be optimized for a few different octanes on the performance level and has a nice optimized tune that does a wide range of octanes for Towing. They work pretty well. Better than a tune that is only suited for one octane. Why is this? Simple. You could be traveling from one state to another and all of a sudden have a different octane rating then 93. It's going to suck if all you have is a tune for 93

So I already use 93 exclusively so that isn't a worry.
And again I'm not really interested in the higher performance I just want to get the most out of this second transmission as far as longevity and I figure that would be possibly through working toward making the shifts more normal and not like its being run by a cocaine-fueled squirrel. :(

With the way that it seems that Livernois has their support team that may be the path I am thinking.

There are a ton of threads on here that cover this topic so, you can definitely do some reading.

I love the Unelashed tune that I have. I had the FP tune prior and it was... okay... but the Unleashed is quite a bit better. Torrie at Unleashed worked with @TORQUERULES to create a really solid transmission strategy. When you order the tune, you can ask for this version. No skipped gears, solid shifts, etc.

I’m an Unleashed tuning fan. I have their 93 octane performance tune with no ship shift (doesn’t skip 2nd). I am at 112,000 miles been turned since about 5k. Safe usable power. In my opinion

As has been stated here Torrie apparently lives on or near his phone and responds in a flash :)

I'm going with Unleashed and already have the tuner out and on the way. With the holidays here it won't be here til next week but so far I like what I see.

Thank you all for the advice. I'm sure there will be more questions in the near future!
