I am sure this question has been asked but I can't find my answer on search. I have a Livernois tuner that I have yet to hook up to my ranger. If I flash my truck I know th warranty is void but if I return it to stock before taking to the dealer if I have an issue will the dealer still be able to identify that it was once tuned?

Yes. Would doubt they would even look unless you popped an engine. That is when they would likely be required by Ford to look. You see, auto service centers are run like doctors offices these days for warranty. The service manager/mechanic writes up the diagnosis and submits to Ford for approval to begin work. It's at that point Ford may ask for more info before authorization. Same as your doctor writing a diagnosis and requesting tests be run. They submit to insurance for pre-approval before scheduling tests.

It is not possible to hide the fact your vehicle has been flashed with an aftermarket tune. The pcm had several counters inside that will tell them something has been done. There is a flash count and a key cycle count. You won't fool them.

Yes they can, but depending on the issue you may not have to worry. How so you ask? Think about it. If you have a problem with the HVAC I can promise you an engine tune most likely will not be the cause. Also I had the Livernois Tunes on my Ranger for roughly 2 years. In that time I had no problem with the truck.

I do not drive the truck Monday-thursday and only take it out of the garage on weekends to go to the cottage. I do tow my bass boat a couple times a month throughout the summer. Id be looking to install the tow tune. Was just more worried about popping the engine but judging by reports on this site it seems fairly safe. I only drive the truck about 20000km a year.

MountainGoat is of course being a bit humorous. If you indeed do fool Ford on a warranty claim then after, they find out, they can, and depending on the value of their loss, will, sue you in civil or criminal court for fruad or theft. Defrauding a person or company is criminally illegal in the U.S, CA, and many other countries. I don't recommend it. I wouldn't at all feel bad for Ford losing a few bucks, but I would hate to see any of my fellow Ford/Ranger owners getting slammed with fraud and or theft charges.
