Agreed. Your hands have every disease you have been in contact with since you washed your hands last. Arguably about 2 to 3 hours for most people and those are diseases that are readily available on almost every surface we come in contact with.Spit is one of the most vile and disgusting things on the face of the planet another human can launch at another human.
I've had to warn more than one person on the job when I saw what they were thinking that if they did so I would break their jaw. All on bodycam and with zero regret.
I'm sure @Fawnbuster can relay some stories about this subject and spitters.
I've seen fire fighters and EMS threaten to drop someone strapped to the rack if they so much as even looked like they wanted to go that route.
Spit, however has about 48 hours of disease in it and some diseases, especially STD's or what they are starting to reclassify as "Mucus Transported Diseases" to avoid stigma, can be there for a life time. Spit is just about the worst kind of assault there is (besides blood) and breaking their jaw is the fastest way to incapacitate the ability to spit. Ironically it makes them drool like a mo-fo.
