Your head would spin faster if I posted the hundreds of acronyms for aviation, Airbus even publishes a handout specifically for them, and of course Boeing and Airbus call the same part different names and then bring in Bombardier with a whole other list.
It comes second nature for me to type the acronym, I do SOMETIMES if it is something (new subject) or (Part) to include what is stands for.
So, feel free to (ASK) if you do not know, someone will be glad to give you specific nomenclature.

Because it’s an FX2, you only have a plastic front skid plate (trim panel, really). I’m fairly certain the FX2 does not come with a full-width air dam.

Regular 4x4 Rangers have a bit more protection (steel skid plates) under the front end - possibly a bit more for the FX4 models and likely the Tremor.

There is nothing additional for the fuel tank, driveshaft, differential, etc. That has been left to the aftermarket suppliers.

Serpentine belt damage is not a thing I recall being reported on this forum - I wouldn’t fuss too much about it.

Now, about your acronym gripe…

If it’s about the common online/internet acronyms - good luck with that.

If it’s about the Ranger acronyms being thrown around, maybe I can help:

Attention all 19,000+ members and numerous guests…please change how you communicate on the forum to please this one member.

See where I’m going with this? When I joined, I didn’t know a BMS from PMS but over time, I managed to learn and become familiar with the acronyms being used. Give it some time, you’ll figure it out.

Yup, that's not going to happen anytime soon and we all had to learn these at some point. Plus, there's this new invention called the internet which lets you look up anything from acronyms to zebras. ?

BTW...you really should've know what PMS was by the time you graduated high school!?

VIN is Vehicle Identification Number, so the phrase "VIN number" is redundant; vehicle Identification number number.

The popularity of Acronyms in daily conversation started when pagers were introduced. You could display a 10 digit number and a few characters for the name or business. Primitive texting was charged by the number of characters, so acronyms became the common shorthand.

Here is a list of common acronyms used in automotive-speak, but by no means complete:

Here's one, SOA (sick of acronyms). BTW (by the way), why does the OP (original poster) post replies with nothing else added?
If you think acronyms are bad, look into medical shorthand. My wife drives me crazy when she leaves me notes with weird symbols and expects me to know what the hell they mean. But as bad as it is, I have actually learned what one or two mean.

Annie leaves me nice little notes too. I've learned what this one means really quick. ?

And thus we arrive at the problem. It's the assumption that the reader is familiar with all the acronyms. Not to blame anyone for using acronyms, but it's cumbersome to read a post when you don't know what the parts are, and some undoubtedly simply give up. Even 3 acronyms in a post greatly extend the time needed to understand the post when you have to stop and jump through all the hoops to find out what the part is the acronym refers to. But yes, and thank you, I will ask if I can't find it.

My wife leaves me cute notes too. My favorite was "I was going to smother you with a pillow while you slept, but I didn't."

There wasn't an acronym, but I felt loved after I read it.

Back to the OP: I'm not going to guess which acronyms you need, but if you post them here, I will do my best to decipher them.

Spot on. My mechanical knowledge is from a time when I can't tell you how many times I polished the points of a magneto on my Sportster with a matchbook cover and gapped its plugs by doubling the matchbook cover over. I know coil, condenser, points, distributer, carburator, engine. I figure I am way ahead because I know what where the ECU is on my 1986 BMW K100.
