I still check into Priuschat.com for tech info for wife's '07 Prius Touring. The forum has a surprising number of engineers and techs.

When I had my '05 Ranger I used the Ranger Station. It had a political slant, but I found worthwhile info.

BMW: bimmerforums, bimmerfest are good. Peach parts.com (!) was great for '80s Mercedes diesels when there were still a lot of them around. Now that they're more scarce, the forum has descended into politics.

If you have a used car, there's probably a dedicated online forum that can help you keep it on the road. Going to Facebook for tech tips ... eew.

Before the online forums there were mailing lists. For quite a while I was into upscale German cars from the '80s and '90s because they were easily repairable and cheap for what you got (I still own three). Richard Welty's BMW list was a go-to for me in the late '90s as well as Richard Sexon's Mercedes-Veterans list.

Usenet was also a decent resource. I remember a guy on one of the MB Usenet lists calling Benz CEO Juergen Schrempp Jerkin'Shrimp. Funny. Does Usenet even exist anymore? Dunno.
Remember PC-Talk?

Or Procomm?

Dialup BBS?

300 Baud Modems? Then 1200 Baud, Then 2400!
We thought we died and went to heaven when 56K Baud came out!

How about Andrew Fluegelman (RIP)? He was brilliant! Wrote PC Talk in Basic! He was responsible for Shareware, which laid the foundation for the FOSS movement.

He was the founding editor for PC World magazine.

Ended it all by driving out to and jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge.

This goes waaay back. Bittersweet memories...

I don't go nearly that far back. I remember when a 56k modem was an upgrade, though.

I worked for many years as a newspaper journalist. In the mid-'90s the paper installed a couple of PCs with Internet capabilities (we were producing our copy on a mainframe at the time). One of my bosses encouraged me to play with the new "toy." Little did we know it would eat our lunch in 20 years.

As many others before me have posted, this is the best most down to earth forum I have been on. I started on 4 different motorcycle forums and switched to 5 different automotive forums. It's all about the people and personalities that make this one top notch. I seem to pick up more info every week on here. I will be here for the duration.

Never a "car" forum before, but a few motorcycle forums. I've been to lots of IRL meets & rides with the moto folks. I've found that people with common interests tend to be pretty civil to each other. until they enter the "kitchen sink" threads....

I've been on more car/truck forums than I can remember. It started back in 2002 when I bought my GMC Envoy and joined an Edmunds Forum. That forum was not very exciting and overly moderated. Then I bought a Trail Blazer SS in 2006 and found a couple forums that were far more open and fun. Lots of modding going on, like here. I miss that thing, except for the gas milage. :)

Hey, me too. What do you use for that?
I use 303 Protectant (no, I really do!) on plastic, vinyl, and rubber parts. Works great on the interior and the rub rails on the box, also the black wheel well trim on my STX. Less greasy than Armor All, but you still have to re- apply it between and after washes to keep it Black black.

Been on samba for quite a while and tons of valuable old VW info there. Was on a Ford Fusion forum while I had that but mostly just searching info. Same with a Ford Edge forum which I still check on occasion when I need a fix.
Besides thesamba, this is the only forum I post in or follow regularly. For me it because the Ranger is more of a hobby vehicle than the Fusion or Edge were and had some fun here too.
Ran across an article from Hagerty on forums and Facebook groups.
Not a fan of Facebook or other social media but check in on occasion since some of the local car shows are only posted there.

There are mulitple products that propose to help re-blacken and protect. As mentioned, 303, Meguiars others, there's a thread recently on just that.
