In reading threads on this forum, I have become sick of acronyms. If you are going to use acronyms, please provide a compendium of acronyms used and what they refer to in your post, either at the beginning or end. Or perhaps someone can provide a listing of all acronyms used and the parts they refer to so I can print them out and put them on the wall by my computer.

Which ones do you need? Post them here and we can start a list. Acronyms are part of the game, and a lot of times they are common in a generation. There are acronyms I know without thinking about them and ones that I have to Google.

Like it or not, in the Automotive World we use a bunch of acronyms all over the place. Here is one for you. IPDM-ER. It's from Nissan and you get to have fun figuring it out.

I pretty much need all of them. I bought a 2021 Ranger XLT FX2 that had an unfortunate encounter with a ditch. Body damage was minimal, but it set the airbags off and the insurance company totaled the truck. This was during the covid epidemic when insurance companies were totaling vehicles with just minor damage so they could fix them and sell them for a profit. Whoever fixed the damage apparently wasn't a body shop and at least the skid plate, airdam and possibly other front underbody parts were left off. I am also going to use the truck as a tow vehicle for a smallish camper, and need to install a brake controller. I also need to install a roof antenna. That's a different story. Why not just use the names of the components instead of acronyms?

I know. I was in the USMC during the Vietnam conflict, and some of the more common acronyms were AFU, NFG, and of course, FUBAR. But the Ranger acronyms are driving me crazy. Too many electronic and computer systems.

FYI (For Your Information) - before you blame the folks who did the bodywork, an FX2 (Ford by two) might not have all the skid plates or other “underbody parts” you might think are missing. Some owners purposely remove air dams for a number of different reasons.

Is your truck a SuperCab or SuperCrew?

The whole point of using an acronym is so you don't have to spell everything out.

AFAIK you can look everything up on the internet.

FTW ... @DukeCanBuildit ?

Here's a small list to get you started:

It has 4 full sized doors. I took it by the ford dealer here and according to the VIN number they said it came with a skid plate. I am wondering if it came with any other protective plates or splash shields, such as a plate over the transmission, differential and driveshafts. There is nothing protecting the underside of the engine and I am concerned about a pebble and dirt getting into the serpentine belt. As far as the prior work, there is a long part across the front just above where the air dam would go that is only held on by 2 sheetrock screws drilled into the plastic parts, one at each end. Most of the push rivets are missing. There are two brackets, one at each front side, that extend down and have bolts at the free end, with a remnant of plastic from a splash shield that was apparently torn off around each bolt. There is a radiator air deflector but it is unprotected from the bottom.
