It was rough as hell when I got it , 52 psi will do that , and the rear will maybe still bounce in certain spots , but it's an EMPTY TRUCK ! Ride quality? People complaining about stuff like this is why some trucks got carpet stuffed between the bed and cab..., wear a damn hard hat if it's bouncing that bad...

I would really like to know what some people were driving before their Ranger so that they constantly complain about our truck's ride. I think the ride in my FX4 is pretty darn good for a truck. Go drive a truck that is 10 or more years older which was what I was driving. This Ranger is night and day better than my old truck.

Hi Phil,

I'm grateful you responded as you have been the primary proponent of the useless factory shocks. For those who don't know, contributor 'Frenchy' no longer owns(?) a Ranger - stated it was too 'troublesome'. Professional 'shill'? This thread will expose much and educate greatly.
Who tf is this guy? Did you wake up wanting to beat your wife but she packed her bags a long time ago? Seriously, reading what you write is honestly like a man experiencing PMS. They are shocks, you didn't like them, you changed them. Be a man and quit whining.

OMG, 6 pages so far, I think all is fine with my truck. I tested it, I was ok with it.
I'm ok with the shocks/tires & just about everything else. You can change
any of those to suit your purpose but it seems everyone is missing one big
failure that you "can't" fix. The placement of the alternator.
OP, go make a thread on that.

Don't encourage that kind of behavior.:lipssealed:
The alternator is where it's always been and anyone could have seen that if they bothered to look under the hood.

The only thing Ford should be embarrassed of is their release of their off-road bumper with ARB.

"Factory fit and finish", at dealership price-tag, but no cut outs for sensors.

I guess Bob the engineer had a golf game to get to on the final day of design approval and couldn't be bothered to toss a couple of 1" holes in the plan.

Reminds me of companies like Roush. How the mighty have fallen and been reduced to selling $13,000 cosmetic packages. Is the original owner of Roush still alive? If not, is he rolling in his grave?

i just replaced my rear shocks. mostly since they were part of the package for a lift. were the fx4 shocks bad when new? no. were they bouncy in the rear, a bit. but after i put all my recovery stuff, extra tools tires etc. it solved that. are my new shocks better, yes. one cant expect a stock part designed to make the general buyer happy and fit in the msrp to be as good as a more expensive user selected one. of the two fx4 shocks i took off one was ok. the other was dead. i could compress and extend it with very little force like clapping hands.
as much as id like to blame ford for that, i have 20k miles of exploring and adventures on those shocks, none of those miles did i baby the truck. i bought it to have fun and i do! plus, off road use that i can admit most likely killed the shock. pretty sure i remember the exact moment... i try to be careful but sometimes one cannot see all the hazards and a chubby right foot have i.
silly to expect charmin to pay you to buy cottonelle. charmin wipes good on most asses id bet. ford has no responsibility for all the different types of asses lol.
