just put a tailgate strut assist on and all of your shock problems will go away!!!! Ask anyone here!! most people here seem to want to call it a damper or something like that.

i have been advocating to call it a tailgate strut assist and give it real credibility

It’s a Strut Tailgate Device (STD). It has become a bit controversial and very polarizing. There are two distinct camps and you either have an STD, or you don’t have an STD.

To those who have upgraded your rear shocks, did you install with the shaft or the shock body down? Eibach said they usually install shaft down but they can be installed either way. Shaft down always looks upside down to me but I have noticed alot of vehicles are like that now. Thoughts or advantages either way?

With a gas charged shock it's not supposed to matter.

I installed mine with the shaft down/body up.

If installed shaft up, I didn't like the idea of venturing off road and having mud and crud sitting on the top of the shock right at the seal of the shaft bore.

I do have boots for the rear & usually keep it pretty clean underneath, not much off roading

Did you guys use threadlocker or anything like that on the rear shock bolts?

Whenever I re-use suspension hardware I will give it a very small dot of Blue Locktite
The stretch of threads with high torque and abuse of lots of vibration and cycling, being my reason why..
