He's a rock chipper. In his country people get paid to make gravel, albeit very little. Explain to me how this kids life has anything to do with an EV? They chipped rocks before EVs and they'll still be chipping rocks after.
I need 20yds of 3/4 minus. Ya got his contact info? :bandit:

I can see where the level 2 would come in handy and be beneficial while on longer drives. Being able to stretch and adjust yourself for a minute or two really does help.

But adding in a Level 3 that lets you NOT pay attention at all? I'm not for this at all! If you need to eat and text then PULL OVER! Christ I swear this world gets dumber by the day if some feel that this is a necessity.

At the moment, Ford offers a Level 2 system dubbed BlueCruise, which allows for hands-off operation under some circumstances, but still requires drivers to keep their eyes on the road and be ready to take over when needed.

Level 3 systems, by contrast, permit drivers to not pay attention at all, allowing them to text or eat—everything short of falling asleep.

How do you "require" drivers to keep their eyes on the road - if a level 2 system can make drivers do that I'm all for it as today many eyes are on sizing up the next bite of that chesseburger, application of cosmetics, texting etc. I see Burger King is now advertising a quad burger, how can you even get your mouth open wide enough to bite into that.

Man their regular burgers are gross enough never mind a quad burger! ??

Yup I've seen everything from texting, looking out the window, turned around talking to rear passengers and putting on makeup while eating. You can add all the nanny features you want but it's still not going to stop the majority of dumbness that goes on. It only seems to encourage it more. What I'd like to see is them start making people take a driving test every x amount of years. I often scratch my head and wonder how some passed theirs the first time!

As with anything humans do there is another human out there trying to hack or override the originator. Been going on since computers have been available to the public. As time goes on it only gets worse! Making data or systems hostage until payments are made to the hackers. Can’t you just wait to see how this all ends up once they start in on systems like this! They’re already overriding keyless entry and command systems. Not much more to take over completely

That is exactly the problem, you can’t. Any intermediate step to to FULL autonomous vehicles requires some type of human intervention. Anytime you have a human involved, whether in the subject vehicle or in others on the road, you inject too many points of failure to the system. As has been said mant times,it is impossible to make ANYTHING idiot proof, because idiots are so ingenious. And, because there are so many idiots in the world. Myself not excluded.

With that said, I do think FULL autonomous vehicles ONLY on Interstate hyways for long journeys could work. Program your destination, get on the Interstate, turn on full autonomous and sit back. Your vehicle would alert you when getting close to you destination or needing fuel/charge. Everyone moving along at the same speed, no unplanned lane changes, enjoy the scenery. You would still need to DRIVE your own vehicle once off the Interstate though.

I really think we need to work on teleportation. Would solve the whole problem, and think of the space it would open up for other uses.:like::clap:

Eye tracking technology has been around a long time.
Many of our aviation weapons systems are aim where you look.
Shouldn't be very hard to incorporate when all it needs to do is to see if you are looking ahead.

Still doesn't mean your seeing or paying attention.

You would hope that if they used the technology they would use software that would stop the auto driving if the operators eyes were not looking forward or undetected. You know reading, sleeping, in the back seat...
For the record I don't care for the technology beyond fuel injection, pointless ignition, and standard cruise control. If you don't like driving take the bus or fly.

Exactly! They're making this tech so you can talk, text, eat etc... which if you need to do any of these things pull the heck over!
