6lbs...That thing must feel like a sedan accelerating!I Wanted to stay close to factory size due to mileage is my prority. Went with Micheline M/S in 255/70/17, stock was 265/65/17. These are .5 taller and .5 narrower, and 6lbs lighter than the Hankooks. Narrower should help in the snow also... Truck does have a Ford/Fox 2.0 level kit. Click for larger image.
I dropped out of school after I learned about squares. To me, a circle is a square without any corners. All the above is a little complex for today's 12 year old. Tires are almost round, most of the time.
like why Wendy’s burgers are square? They don’t cut corners.I dropped out of school after I learned about squares. To me, a circle is a square without any corners.
Wendy's is savage...like why Wendy’s burgers are square? They don’t cut corners.
Therefore, square pegs do fit in round holes. After all, I'm a square peg and I fit......never mind let's not go there.I dropped out of school after I learned about squares. To me, a circle is a square without any corners.
I know when I was shopping for my Tremor, there was an option for 17” and 18” wheels. My Lariat came with 18's. I thought all Lariat's did, but is seems the XL/XLT and Tremor comes with 17's?
i know this is from a while back but you mentioned running the 285 70 17 in a ko2 stock with minimal rubbing. i have questions lol. the 265 70 17 looks so snug to me any chance you have a picture of the 285 70 17 on your ranger? did you have the stock wheels and offset? every time i look under my truck i feel like i am so close to the steering parts and sidewall of the front tires lol. I want to go to something in a 33 inch tire but not really wider. i was thinking something like a 255 80 17 but they are not cheap or easy to find in stock. any suggestions? thanksTires are measured in two ways:
- Metric
- Inches
Inches are easier 33x12.5x17 = 33" tall, 12.5" wide, 17" wheel.
Metric is a little more convoluted. 265/65r17 is 265mm wide, 65 is the sidewall height (which is a percentage of the first number = 265 x .65). and 17 is the wheel.
You can fit at 265/70r17 on the stock truck no problem. I had the KO2s in that size and they performed great.
285/70r17 KO2s will fit on the stock Ranger with only a *tiny little kiss* on the crash bar, in reverse and with the wheel cranked passenger all the way.
If you are going to level your truck, like you said (I have an Eibach Pro 2.0 kit for sale and I can even help you install it, if you're interested) then you can easily go 285/70r17. This is equivalent to a 33" height (though its technically 32.8).
I ran the Eibach Pro 2.0 kit and 255/80r17 tires (33.1") for about 8 months. I am stepping up to 285/75r17 (34" tires) this week.
I tell you all that to make this point: Decide what you want before you start modifying and buying parts. Especially tires. I am about to go to my 4th set in a year and a half and, while I have sold all my old tires, its been a pain.
What do you like to do with your truck? Are you interested in off roading? Do you just want to look cooler (nothing wrong with that)? These questions will dictate what you need. I off road a lot, so all my modifications have been geared around getting out and back. I've still learned a lot along the way and had to replace modifications that didn't work out exactly as I had planned.

did you need a lift or spacers or different offset to do the 255 80 17 ?The 285/70r17 BFG AT KO2s were about 1/8" away from the spindle. I don't have any pictures, but they fit. I rubbed on the crash bars in the front, only in reverse and only at full lock of the steering wheel. The top of the tire never gets closer than that, because there is no deflection of that part of the tire. 255/80r17 were a great tire for me. I went up even further though, to a 285/75r17 (34").
