So the sub trades building houses across the street nailed my truck with their genie lift man basket. The scratch directions and them being full of mud when I found it tells the story. They deny it of course and without video evidence, there's a $1k insurance deductible that makes me fix this myself.

I won't be able to hammer it out from the inside because the interior ceiling trim is in the way.
Haven't tried using a dent puller yet. I doubt that I'll get it back to normal. Also the truck is covered in the 3M protection film. That probably got gouged out by the impact.
So I don't know what to do about this. ?

File a hit and run crash report. Advise the cops about your suspicion. S/He may be able to find some corresponding damage or paint transfer on the machine, which could link it to your damage. I have found in past investigations that sometimes the “suspect” may just take responsibility and fix the damage, while admitting no guilt, in order to stop a criminal investigation. In any event, you will have a crime report on file which will aid in any insurance claim.

Paintless dent repair. A good guy will make that almost invisible.

Ya I already thought of that when I first saw it. In my brilliance, I took pictures of the wrong corner of the man basket.
The next day I confronted the sider who was using it.
Then later I realized my error and when I went out to see the offending corner, the whole man basket was crystal clean. ... of course it is ?

I've been a framer for ten years. Tradesman will sell you the rope to hang yourself for a few bucks.
He would probably claim bankruptcy or move out of the country before admitting wrong doing.
This isn't back in 1950 when men were men, and lived by moral standards.

you will have a crime report on file which will aid in any insurance claim.
Ya. Problem is the $1k deductible still exists. I bet a pro body shop could even fix it for less.
The only difference with a Police investigation proving it, would be the insurance company could sue for their cost back. But I'm still paying for the fix.
I forgot to say the builder never answers their phone.
Thanks for trying to help, but I got screwed. Just wish my so called alarm system did its job and called my phone when it happened.

Ya. Problem is good work isn't cheap. I have to do this myself.
You know, cause I decided to have a shiny truck instead of money in the bank. That was real bright.

How about checking neighbors houses for possible Ring camera video?

Ya. Did a block sweep already. Asked everyone. No luck. Our doorbell has a motion detection camera that records with movement, but it's retarded. It will notify your phone when a squirrel jumps around the trees, but my truck getting a surprise man basket up the butt didn't trigger recording. I really need a dash cam. But that looks tricky too. Have to find a suitable one that keeps an eye on things at night but doesn't kill the battery.

My insurance company is going under too. I hate asking them for money; they were nothing but good to me when my first Ranger was stolen and trashed beyond repair. They just simply wrote me a cheque, which ended up being the downpayment on this money pit that's been nothing but problems and various highway robberies since day one.

There is always a midnight visit to the sight to settle the score wink, wink…
Thought about that too. Was thinking of mentioning to the builder it would be a shame if something happened to those nice big bay windows. ...
But I have a religious issue:

1Peter 3:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
...
My beliefs won't allow it. I would love nothing more than the sider to find another broken thing on his truck every day until he admits it, but that's just not me. We have bigger problems right now to worry about anyway, without backstabbing each other in the late watches of the night like animals.

Actually being on your property your homeowners will pick that up.
Renter, and it is parked on the street; city property.
Solutions here are good; assuming I'm actually an upper middle class person that has money to burn. The pain started back when I figured as an uneducated tradesman in 2020, that I could have nice things. Apparently it doesn't work like that.

Absolutely PDR. But you'll probably have to drop the headliner. I had a dent in my roof more centered and was ready to do PDR, when a body shop suggested that I punch it from the inside directly up. I did that and it sprung back 95% normal. Your location won't allow that, but PDR was still work. PDR will require the headliner removed though for access. So learn how to remove the headliner, then give your PDR guy a call.

Yeah this is a save up and get a pro pdr, someone good can remove that with zero issues, it’s easier to make it worse if you have zero experience. Cause as soon as you crease it you're looking at replacing the entire roof panel.

So sorry this happened - it really sucks that the guy won’t own up to it and do what’s right. He’s probably a Calgary Flames fan. ;)

i think its going to be a challenge to a PDR guy.
And regardless....the paint has been stressed, some sort of paint repair is going to be needed as it damaged a fair bit of area
I've never seen PDR other than some hail damage or flat panels popped in , if PDR can fix THAT , I would be amazed ? , creased and paint gouged it looks like in the pic, I am VERY SKEPTICAL! But would like to be pleasantly surprised in case I gets a boo boo...
