So I know its early and I only have 817 miles on my Ranger, but I am very happy with the fuel economy. This current tank of gas (premium fuel) I am averaging 26.2MPG. I bought the Ranger with 3 miles on it and Trip 2 has the additional 814.3 miles I have put on it since I bought it and in those 800+ miles I am averaging 24.4MPG. I drive a mix of highway and back country roads.

Most of my driving is to work and back....1 mike round trip. Since it’s so little and I fill up about once a month I run the 93. I get 18-19 mpg depending on the other trips I take.
Drove 3 hours on the interstate today @ 75-80. Doing this I got 25.3 mpg. It was nice to get in and let her stretch her legs Some and run. It was really nice merging onto the interstate and having some dork not want to let you in. Just tapped the pedal and left him way behind very fast!

I do have to say, this truck rides better than most cars! It rides smooth and very comfortable.

So, an update to my last post...

Many questions on here about which octane to run, what’s the difference? 2.5 mpg....that’s the difference.
On the way back home on my 3 hour drive down I-65 I filled up with 89 instead of the 93 I normally run. Went from 25.3 to 22.7 mpg. Same type of driving, same type of traffic only difference was the gas.

There ya go. Not to put pencil to paper and determine if the 2.5 mpg is worth it in the cost difference for the higher octane. Afterall, I want my 1 mile rt commute each day to cost effective.
At this rate I may run out of time before mileage on my warranty.

2.5 a gal on a 15 gal fill up (I usually get about 15 when I refill) is 42 miles per tank. That's about 2 gallons of gas. Here 93 is 70 cents a gallon more than 87. buying 2 gallons of 87 is about 4 bucks, the extra 70 cents for 15 gallons is a little over 10. So six bucks a tank isn't bad. Question is is it better for the truck in other ways (besides being able to run the 93 tune). Normally I use a tank a week.

thanks for the info now I might try it to see if I can that kind of increase.

Is that with the AFE adjusted in engineering mode? Mine shows that when set to default, but set to 944 it matches the gas buddy app at 30mpg when cruising between 60 and 62.

If that's accurate at 65 then I'm moving up. ?

Yes, AFE is adjusted in engineering mode to match app and hand calcs. Although the truck is very capable of achieving this mileage, most of the time, traffic and other factors bring the MPG down to around 30-31 (Hwy), which is still great.
Agreed

70 cents more here too, except only 91 and the rare 93 is e10. Around us everyone uses 87 so the gas is always fresher, and the 91 tends to sit in the holding tank underground for a while.

I've heard that too....Guess I could go one city over where half the people that live there drive 100K cars that usually require premium fuel. One station by me only sells 87 an 91 no mid grade...wonder if they sell more that way

Drove back from Tampa with 87 octane. About 100 or so miles spent on smaller hwy’s in Tennessee and a brief stint on a trail to get to some property.

Level kit, KO2 Load E 10 ply heavy ass tires, 55quart cooler filled, 10 cases of Mr Pibb (dont judge me, you cant find it in Michigan) and maybe 30 lbs of luggage in the bed.

edit: using the travel time and miles, apparently I averaged 60.6mph. That doesnt seem right but numbers dont lie.

After 6k miles my mpg has crept up on its on from 14.5 city to 19mpg. Yesterday I tried my 1st tank of premium, used Kroger points to get. 40 cents off per gallon so I filled up both vehicles. Took a short road trip yesterday about 85 miles round trip and my avg was 25.5mpg, cruise at 73 most of the time. Prior to that I was lucky to hit 20mpg. Pic is my avg at fill up. I've checked several times and the trucks avg per tank runs true.
