They don't though. There's a gotcha in there.

For the Ford Performance tune, they actually provide you with *their own* 3/36k warranty (from factory) that covers your powertrain. After that you're on your own to fight with Ford for the remainder of the 5/60k powertrain warranty from the factory (or more if you have an extended).

I did a lot of research before opting to pass in the car, and then the truck. If there was better warranty coverage I wouldn't even hesitate.
(Did not read fine print) ?

edit: this was what I thought thr warranty was. 3/36 for tune, but no change to other warrant (power train still 5/60)

I don’t think anyone sided with what Frenchy is saying in that thread that you lose your power train bc of tune.

You don't actually *lose* your factory 5/60k powertrain, but they can blame a failure on your tune and void warranty coverage because of that. The Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act should prevent them from actually doing that, but Ford has a lot more lawyers and time than most of us do to draw that out. YMMV - technically the 5/60k is still in place, but they can use the tune as an invalidating reason against your warranty in the event of a failure.

Oh and mid grade Shell fuel.
I guess that makes sense if you were keeping it around a constant speed and were maybe drafting some trucks. The elevation gain between Baton Rouge and Longview is only 1500ft over 300 miles, so pretty flat. I recently drove from LA to Medford OR and got around 20mpg but that is 25,000 ft gain over 700 miles, so quite a bit of climbing.. And I was around 75mph the whole way.

No drafting good way to get killed.

20-27 mpg is what i get depending on load and distance traveled. Longer the trip, better the efficiency.

19 Lariat 2WD:

Generally around 26mpg, mostly interstate driving to work 2x/week

36-38psi
87 octane
75 max on the interstate
Tow/Haul mode engaged on the interstate
**Dee Zee tailgate damper

Overall very impressive for a pickup truck, but the mileage definitely falls off a cliff in colder temps & driving above 80.

Largely just helps keep the engine in slightly better RPMs and shifting (less lugging, more gear-at-a-time shifting), mixed results on MPG impacts, some think it helps and others haven't noticed a difference.

It doesn't really hurt anything, it just forces the transmission to use all gears and disables ASS.

Exactly, if I need to pass a Tacoma the tendancy with T/H engaged is to stay in 10th gear longer rather than drop to 9th or 8th & increase RPM (and fuel consumption)

what does tow mode do on the freeway?
Tow mode only keeps the vehicle in the same gear longer. It does not help on gas mileage and in fact worsens it. It's there to help the RPMs and to keep the vehicle in torque range.
Everything else you've heard is just an outright lie or somebody who doesn't know what they're speaking of.
