I went down in a blaze of glory trying to install my fitzstick. I was able to access the transimission cap without jacking up the truck (tremor). As everyone says there isn't a whole lot of room when coming from underneath and i could not manage to budge the cap loose with my shortened box end wrench. So I got my 2ft 3/8 socket extension, put universal on it and then the socket to get it loosed up top from the engine bay. I couldn't budge the thing, putting all i had into trying to break it loose. I didn't attempt to put a cheater pipe on it, afraid I'd break the cap. I will need to get a longer extension if I want to try an impact. Anyone else have a hard time getting the cap removed?

BTW, truck is newish 2023 with 7500 miles so its not all corroded. Its like they installed the cap with red locktite.

Just done mine and I had to use 1/2” extensions and ratchet with swivel from top. Some gorilla from ford factory put that bad boy on. It’s friggin tight. It’ll break loose.

Hey, first batch dipstick owners,

I have been trying to slowly hit up all the first batch group, if anyone wants a updated stick with the laser etch vs the electro etch, the difference is, it is clearer and darker/deeper, so it's easier to read the fluid level.

Please let me know, send me a message and I will send the measurement instructions, also include your address.

This is for serial numbers up to #60, with the exceptions of #38, 40, 45, 51, 53, 54. There is question about #55, whoever has that, I missed it in my build log, it should have the older stick, message me and we can figure it out.

I have a break in production, so this is a good time to get caught up with the updates.

Thanks everyone, let me know!!
I ordered mine in September where do I see my 'serial number'? Was it written down on the packing material? Etched into the stick itself?

I dont know why ford would tighten something like this that is suppose to be removed to service the transmission. Ill try again once the cold whether moves thru. I have a bunch of half inch ratchets and sockets but not an extension long enough. Ill prob grab one from harbor freight. Thanks for the advice guys.
I would consider a wrench from below before you have to go buy an extension.

Or even a short socket and a 1/2" ratchet from below.

I wonder if there is a correlation between those who can't get the cap loose and those who own a DeeZee tailgate assist.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. I knew i was opening myself up to some ribbing. I was just surprised at how tight the cap is. Btw, i dont own tailgate assist or dampers.

I bought a magnetic 19mm socket and the long 1/2” extension shortly after I bought the truck for towing. I knew I’d need to check the fluid and decided to make it as easy as possible on my self.

I looked at generic dipsticks, and didn’t like what I found, and then the Fitzstick was created. What a gem, and now I’m set. I’ve already set up a tube and funnel to fit the stick.

As far as the damper and the factory dipstick, I have a damper and got it off. Besides, you can always use an 8’ cheater pipe from the top :).

Glad you got it installed. ?looks close to AC line did you bent it out of the way or loosen bolt and adjust to make room
I had moved it but i think i need to do more. My hands were close to numb by the time i got things put together. Was trying to beat the cold front.

Wait for that decision. After starting on this thing yesterday at 10am and finishing at 6:30 you could imagine my pissed offness this morning when I found a puddle the size of a large pancake this morning. Dripping from the GD drain plug. Guess I’ll be tearing it back apart. Plug is tight.
Got the new pan in. Pulled the plug on the new one before anything else. I’d bet a lot of money the same result would have happened. I wasn’t taking the chance and I went and bought a package of new crush washers. Put the new pan on with new crush washer. She’s doing like it’s supposed to do and nice and dry. I think Dorman is using too hard a metal for their crush washer. After winching it down to the point I was about to snap the drain, I backed it off and noticed zero Indentions on their washer.
