It's a tight spot, I have used double sided machinist tape to keep the nut there, that's why I sent both, U nut is easier and the Nylock is better, but for this application the U nut is fine, just not in high salt areas.
I used the U nut...way simpler IMO...the bolt would have to back out 20 revs to come off...a little locktite KISS...

Don't expect to see accurate fluid levels until you get the transmission to at least 206F. This is not easy to validate without some way to read the temps. Just driving around town will not reach those temps. You'll see 190F - 195F or so... and your temps will read a block lower 5-6 instead of 4-5.
Ford has really taken it to all levels of stupidity by making this virtually impossible for the normal consumer. All vehicles I have owned over the last 30 years that had Auto transmission were: "check while hot on level ground in park"
1: there was actually a dipstick in the engine compartment to check it.
2: no special tools or skills needed
3: no special temp needed to check it, just hot

Fords new solution :
1: Dealer Check fluid: nope can't do it, sealed unit.
Strategy to Discourage and prevent consumer DIY:
1: Omit any user serviceable dipstick components
2:make plug as inaccessible as possible. If however fluid check is attempted, ensure that consumer burns himself by locating plug as close to dangerously hot exhaust components as possible
3: design transmission and fluid to require a very high temperature for accurate measurement, thereby further discouraging any DIY attempts.

I haven't thought of 4 & 5 yet but I'm sure they exist.

Craziness.?

4-ULV smells like ass and probably deadly
5-no way to measure trans temp unless you pay for OBD dongle + PID extra software

I see it this way...

CEO calls in his executives, slams his fist on the table, DEMANDING cost savings...
Executives call in their subordinates, slams his fist on the table, DEMANDING cost savings...
Subordinates call in the engineers of their respective departments, slams his fist on the table, DEMANDING cost savings...

Transmission team says, "what? You want me to cut corners on a critical component?" After several team meetings and brainstorming sessions (all catered at great expense so no one has to leave for lunch), they concluded that a short dipstick that no one can get to will save $0.000001 per unit. Win!

I'm in a very sarcastic mood today ?

Despite the stated sarcasm there is very likely some truth here my friend.

You remember the phrase "design of longer sticks equates to a certain male bodily part", and that means that the design of a "shorter stick" equates too, well you can see where that group of "shorties" were going.

Ford figures chances are, failures of the transmission will occur after 5yr 60k warranty is up so why spend money on a dipstick and why bother checking the fluid!!!!! ??
To bolster consumer confidence in their product. Luring the consumer into a false sense of security is a good business strategy and I feel cheated that I was deprived of this.?

It says poison right on the bottle. I suspect most auto fluids are poison :)

And now we can all sniff our transmission fluid ?
Proper terminology is "snorting"....
As in...To Snort or not to Snort, that is the question...
or
I don't give a good snort...
or
How about an after dinner Snort ?
Can be used as a noun, verb, or adjective.

I am about to order 200+ brackets and top fittings tomorrow morning, so it's in progress?
NICE!!!! As long as I am one of those 200…I am happy. (Well, I’m happy for you, even if I’m not…but you know what I mean?).

How many of the first 29 have been installed? I count 21.

Out of those how many are within 1 inch from the A/C line?

How many loosened the A/C line bracket bolt and re-positioned it?

How many adjusted the line over by applying a little pressure and moving it left? I count 1.

How many have any issues with the stick hanging up at the bottom when putting it back in?, if you do whats your serial number? it's engraved on the stick at the top. I count 1.

How many had issues with the loom? I count 4, and one L bracket adjustment.

I am reviewing any needed changes in the parts or the instructions before the next big batch, and also the 2nd half of the first batch, only 27-29 sticks.

I really appreciate any input, the eyes and hands here have been so helpful!!
