One thing that is annoying is the habit of pressing the brake pedal when you get in the truck.
A habit to break because if you use your Start-X and touch the brake before the start button, your motor shuts off.
This was mentioned above but I didn’t think much of it.
Still happy with it, just need to re-train myself.

I found this on an F150 site: Adding Remote start . Does anybody know if this would work on a 2020 Ranger?? I bought a 4 button fob - would be nice to be able to use it.. Comments??

Don't remember if I posted it in this thread but my research found the 3 and 4 button fobs use different frequencies for the Ranger, so no, it won't work.

If you watch the video, it says you change the TPMS module which changes the frequency, so the 4 button remote will work (tradeoff is the 3 button remotes no longer work) - I just was wondering if the TPMS module on the Ranger works the same as on the 150..

Ah, never dug further as it was cheaper to buy the X-start than fobs and modules.

I kinda wanted the 4 button remote, but when all is said, it might turn out to be the easiest to just get the X-Start. Although the Ford Alarm option also adds remote start, plus setting off an alarm if someone tries to break in. Costs a little more (~ $50). Decisions, decisions....

Slight correction, it is the RTM (Radio Transceiver Module) module you need to replace not TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). Apparently you need to reset or relearn the TPMS after changing the RTM. Our Rangers may auto-learn as we don't need to do this when rotating tires.

Just put this on my 2020 XLT w/301a package on it. Lock-unlock-lock with no honk. About a 6 second delay from sequence end to start for a hair over a hundred bucks. Had it installed in 5 minutes. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B08KHMGH3Z?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
Looking to get this since the dealer said it'd be 450 OTD which seems insane. I'm guessing theres no warranty issues with having this on? Also, what'd you mean by this:

" On another note, the unit we are using if it doesn’t see a normal start and engage of the vehicle and you shortcut the thing it can act irregular. Mentions it in the install instructions. So electrical can become erratic if you do. Wait like 10 minutes and good to go!"

thanks!

I had the fob in my pocket and it auto started and my alarm was going off. Got into the truck and just used the key to turn to on position and then off. Started to walk away and it restarts! That’s odd I thought. Did the same thing again and don’t you know, did it again. Then I touched brake pedal and it shut off. Hmm lesson learned. If you don’t touch break it will try to restart. That’s how it resets itself.

So if it starts and was unintentional just tap the break pedal and it resets it. Key use has no impact. Otherwise it could do some strange behaviors.

This unit is a 100 bucks give or take a few bucks. I’m happy with it as it has worked flawlessly since installing other than that one incident. No warranty issues ether.

Lol thats pretty funny though. Possessed truck. Sounds good, I'll probably pick this up then. I can't imagine why Ford's is 300+ more. Thanks for the reply.

When I first picked up my truck I wanted factory fob start. Was informed that if it wasn’t built with it could not add it on. They were right. I researched pretty heavily and they use a different frequency for factory than aftermarket. All they could offer is what you heard too. That’s with a separate fob for remote start. Screw that! Went looking and came across what I have now. Key fob start! Already have the alarm system from factory so why add another with their aftermarket package. If I’m out of range of fob then use the FordPass app to start it.

So the dealer told me that it'll be lock/unlock/lock on the keyfob. I think its because I have keyless entry and push to start already. Just didn't have the remote start. I'm waiting on the FordPass app to allow me to activate my truck. Been about a week and apparently I have to just wait till they get to it. I'm going to order the startX today...see what happens sooner. Me installing startX or Ford fixing the dam app for me.

Wow! Once I signed up for FordPass it took like an hour for it to register my truck. That’s strange.
