Just returned from my ford dealer.
Was told that they do not have the parts for
the recall. If they simply checked the tail lamp
it could bread and they would not return my
truck.

Has anyone else heard this story? Hard to believe
they would send out a recall and and make appointments
for repair without the parts.

When I got the recall, they said that they would notify me when the parts were available.

Update March 11: I received a letter saying the parts are now available and made an appointment with my dealer for this Friday.

I have a 2018 build date, do we know what dates are affected?

I bought a 2019 XLT FX4 on 12/13/19 but wasn't allowed to leave with it due to recall.. Was told could be days or a couple weeks. By 1/13/20 it still had no parts to fix the tail lamps and I could still not take delivery. From my understanding this affected almost 80,000 trucks and the dealership said maybe February on the replacement part. They took a huge hit and sold me 2019 Lariat FX4 for $2,000 more than the XLT.

I made the mistake of having them check mine when I took it for an oil change two weeks ago. Turns out mine failed inspection even though I had no issues with the taillights. Went in on a Monday and didn't get it back until the following Monday. Parts came in on Thursday of that week but the tool to install did not. I'm thankful it was only a week out of service and they gave me a loaner.

Whattttt? now they need a special tool too?

I have it on my to-do list next week to call a couple of local dealers around me to see if they have the tool and the *good* part (apparently the first batch of replacement parts were bad).

I went by and checked with my dealer yesterday about parts availability. Service writer told me they first have to inspect it. Then if it needs parts, they will order either the male or female part needed to perform the repair. Parts are available BUT it could take 2-3 days to get the parts. Isn't that SPECIAL........

When I called the dealer over a month ago they said they didn't have the parts, but could at least inspect it. I never even imagined that they would try to keep it if it failed. But it didn't, so I'm grateful I didn't have to hurt anyone!

Got recall said to wait for notice to come in for service when parts are in stock...tail lights working no problem...no notice...not going to fix something that's working...
