I would like to check the date on the HVAC motor before I take it to a dealer. Has anyone checked theirs on the Ranger? Can you post a pic of where it's located...and what it looks like? TIA

You won't be able to get to the hvac motor. The date range is based on your vehicle build date. You should be able to find that on a sticker around your driver door. Date ranges are from Aug1-Sept27 2019.

This is not true. It's based on the stamped date on the motor itself. I don't think you even have to remove the motor to see the date code. You should be able to stick your dome and a flashlight up under the dash and see for yourself.

That's great news. I've read where some Rangers are in the date range, but still have a correct HVAC unit. I don't want the service guy tearing stuff up. I'd feel better knowing what I'm getting into. Is there a panel...or just crawl under the dash? Thanks for all input.

I don't think they're testing anything up. When they looked at mine it was in the parking lot. Didn't even go in the shop.

It's a visible sticker on the outside of the bottom of the blower. This is the tech who performed my recall.

Just looked...I'm practically blind, but I thought it said 6/13/19. We picked up the Ranger on 9/5/19 or so. So...I guess I lucked out.
Thanks for all the help you guys.

I guess the recall is based on the date range of the motor production. I thought I saw a reference range - but can't find it now. Is this date a suspect motor?

The recall dates are from June 14 2019 through September 22 2019. Unfortunately mine shows a motor build date of July 7 2019. The motor is directly behind the glove box I used my cell phone to snap a picture. I went to the dealer showed my recall papers and photo and apparently that was not good enough I had to schedule an appointment for their tech to look at it. I didn't get an answer from them on the availability of replacement motor.

Are you prepared for the consequences of wrong information from the forum?

I'd just take it to Ford, that way you're covered

They wont be tearing your truck up to verify if this is applicable or not
Hey Pride,
I still have the recall work not done. I've used the heater numerous times and never had any odor. I agree that the recall work should be completed, and when I stop in for an oil change, I'm sure the service guys will bring it up. If the dates are correct and the original part is fine...I'm good, if the part needs to be replaced, I'm good. If the truck shows it needs to go in sooner...I'm good. I feel better gathering all this information beforehand. At least, I can make one visit instead of numerous stops.
