Finally get to post a picture. Last time we had snow was 2018. Went for a late night ride with the Wife and Daughter. Going the to teach my daughter how to drive in snow tomorrow. She’s 15 so it’s time just incase it ever snows here again ?.

I see you are a pro as you turned up the windshield wipers!

That is correct way (unless you got a heated windshield).

I don't do that, but I usually cover the windshield. You can damage the wiper arms, especially if the wind blows hard. Just me.
To Lift Or Not To Lift?
Despite its popularity in many parts of the U.S., lifting windshield wipers ahead of snow and ice is a debated practice. Some argue it prevents damage and simplifies snow removal, while others worry about potential wear on wiper springs and exposing them to high winds.

As such, experts often provide opposing recommendations.

To Lift
Putting windshield wipers up ahead of an impending winter storm is the easiest way to prevent the soft rubber blades from freezing to the windshield. As the experts at GlassDoctor point out, “frozen windshield wipers that become stuck to a windshield can contribute to a winter driving nightmare.” Their website notes that without proper defrosting, frozen wipers may “rip or break” when engaged. This can also stress or damage the wiper motor to a point that requires professional repair.

Harold Singh, material damage claims quality control manager at Erie Insurance in Erie, Pennsylvania (which sees its fair share of snow and ice), is Team Lift.

“There are risks either way,” Singh says in a company blog post. “But the risk is higher that you’ll tear the rubber trying to free a frozen wiper blade. So leaving them up is probably your best bet, if you can do it.”

Not To Lift
Steven Ewing, director of editorial content for Edmunds, on the other hand, recommends not lifting your wipers.

"Leaving your car's wipers up during a winter storm seems like a good idea in theory, as it can prevent the wipers from freezing to the windshield. But the reality is, high winds during winter storms may cause your wiper arms to bend or break when positioned upright, leading to costly repairs,” he says. “Instead, leave the wipers down, clear as much snow and ice off the windshield as possible, and let your car's defroster melt the remaining wintry mix."

Lifting your wipers too often or incorrectly can also decrease the lifespan on the springs that keep them functioning.

I decided not to lift my wipers due to the high winds we had. I slipped a colorplast sign in between the wipers and windshield.
I have used cardboard in a pinch.

Definitely a “driving in snow” experience with tire tracks to prove it. I bet you pulled it right back under that truck port as soon as you took the picture. ?

I also bet that driving in it made you feel like you were doing this…

I got one of these, has magnets sewn inside to hold in place on windy days, works great :like:
Nice, are the magnets protected so as not to scratch the paint?

Yes, they're between the layers. The one I posted isn't the exact one I got, but similar. There's some that come with mirror covers as well. Didn't need that. Mine just has the flaps that get tucked between the door and the A-pillar, the some strap that go around the mirror housings.

Bah, winters here have really slowed down - I doubt I'll get to use the snow chains this season. =(

I used the leaf blower to clear Soupie and do the driveway this morning - works great but doesn't feel very manly! =D

Here also, I'm are 31 F now and their predicting 50s tomorrow. We've had a total of 5 inches over 3 "storms" this winter. What is left of that will be gone by tonight. Farmers will be crying for moisture this spring. Of course their always crying, either too wet or too dry, never just right. ?
