Yeah...all 3 of the major brands have "grown" considerably over the past dozen years.
Ranger seems to be, size wise, about the same as pickups from the late 90's to early 2000's.
Next to the current Ford's and Chebbie's I feel "small".
I had planned to buy a 2018 F-150 Scab (just short of 20' long!) and discovered in time that it would fit into my garage with only 1/2" clearance from the garage door to the front garage wall  ...the Ranger is a perfect fit!

My 78 year old dad has a Chevy Silverado TrailBoss garage queen. That behemoth is a land whale. It's way taller and longer than previous full size pickups. Until I got my Ranger he kept trying to get me to buy a Trailboss too. The length is the same as my garage wall to door. Ranger fits in the garage with 2' of space and is easier to drive around and park.

I thought my 02 F150 was a pain to park sometimes for the 16 years I had it (2nd owner) and went and bought a 21 ranger cause it was “smaller”. When I was at the dealership (they are using my old truck as a shop truck it looks like) and I was parked beside it - I was surprised by the fact they were not that different in size.
But yet no issue with finding parking with my Ranger - maybe cause I park it as far away from everyone possible now cause I care more about ranger ?

Had to run out today to Wally World. Parked a bit out even in rain.
Came out and this late 90's early 2000 Ram Bighorn Quad Cab 1500, with 5 foot bed parked next to me, literally bumper next to bumper.
Took quick pic (rain) to show not a lot of difference in length tween full and our "midsize" Ranger.

When I was looking at buying a truck back in 2019, the Ram was 18" longer than the Ranger I purchased. Eighteen inches is a lot when you are tight on available space in your garage or parking situation. My other truck is also a midsized, but slightly longer Dodge Dakota.

My neighbor used to have a 2006 F150. He said my 2019 Ranger was bigger all around. Yes, he was correct. But there is another thought about "bigger". And that is....

Overall quality. Sorry TexMex fans, but compared to the other mid-sized offerings, Ford Rangers are hands-down the winner!
I came from an 08 f150 4dr 5.5 ft bed. The ranger is indeed smaller in all metrics. Especially width. Miss thst giant center console you could hide a small person in.

Maybe it just depends on your local trails but I see these rigs and don't understand how they even make it down trails without one tire off the edge of a cliff or smashing into trees/boulders.

I agree. The only redeeming quality is they did not bro their trucks. Big rim tiny tires.
