My wife and picked up our new Supercrew SXT earlier this week and we both love it. It is in many ways the throwback truck that I have been searching for.

I am struck by the the similarities between our Ranger and the first generation Lightnings. Looking at the various performance options available, it seems most of the elements are available to do a factory looking "What if?" build.

I know the 4wd adventure truck thing is selling right now and this is contrary to the flow... I am wrong?

Back seat delete on a 4x2 Supercab with limited slip. I like the STX front end treatment and both the seats and aluminum 17's are "right". Drop 2" front and back. Tires, tune and maybe exhaust.

Input is welcome. Helpful suggestions are great. Telling me it's a dumb idea is fine too.

I wish muscle trucks would come back. Lower it, throw some fat tires/wheels on, maybe fender flares and some performance stuff. Excited to see what you come up with

I'm open to suggestions. Improving the handling seems the biggest obstacle and the most reasonable place to start.

It's your truck--make it whatever makes you (and the wife) happy !!! There are quite a few of us that are going for more of a performance truck like the Lightning. I had an '04 in Sonic Blue....having 380hp/450tq with a slight throttle nudge was thrilling to say the least. I'll be lowering mine once BellTech gets their kit on the market sometime later this year or early next year. I added a Livernois tune and it really wakes up the little 4-banger....maybe next spring, I'll take to a 1/4 mile track and see how it does. It's a fun little truck no doubt.

SCT's SEMA Ranger turned out pretty Badass. Might be a good starting point for ideas.

Now that makes me wish I didn't go with the FX4! Imagine that with 4wd? There used to be an AWD conversion for the older Rangers, that would be a sweet setup in our Rangers for a street truck.

That's along the lines of what I want to do, but that might be a little more radical than I want to go. The $4k in suspension is a chunk. Not saying it might not be totally worth it, but that's getting closer to second gen. Lightning.

I think a street setup would be refreshing to see, there are only a few on this forum. If you got 1st gen style lighting wheels fabricated you would be a hero in my book.

Welcome, and congratulations. I have an STX on order now. Do your thang my friend, and post pics when you're finished. I'm sure it will look great.
