Good afternoon, I'm experiencing a problem where my A/C won't blow under 60 degrees in my 2019 Ranger. I my understanding is that most A/C systems should have temperatures around 30-45 degrees from the vent. I spent a couple of weeks driving around with a thermometer in the vent, and it would only dip below 60 on rare occasion.

I started by replacing the cabin air filter with a regular OEM Motorcraft replacement, which had no affect.
I used a gauge which read there was enough r-1234yf in the system and that it was not under charged.

Next step was to bring it to a dealer. They checked the blend doors and found they are working properly which is a relief. They evacuated the system, pulled out the correct amount of refrigerant and confirmed it was not leaking. They re-filled the system, and told me nothing was wrong. I paid the $290 diagnostic fee and am still warm during this heatwave.

The fan speeds all work, and I can notice a difference selecting all the way from heat to the lowest temperature. I have tried all the different settings, a/c on, off, max a/c, and switching between recirculate and outside air. When I press the a/c button, I can hear what I think is the compressor engaging?

Not sure why I do not have decent temperatures or enough power to cool the cab. Can anyone steer me in the right direction with this?
My AC is blowing cold enough, but it doesn't feel "freezing cold" like the air from my 2017 Mercedes C Class I traded in. I noticed that when cruising around 55-70mph, the air is considerably colder from the vents than while driving in stop and go traffic. Maybe it is something to do with the way the compressor works under varying types of engine load, whether constant or random. I had no problem in the 94 degree heat during the past couple of days.

wish I could help I can tell you its not normal my ac blows ice cold and I live in texas home of 100+ most of the summer. sorry man but something has got to be wrong.. maybe a different dealer?????
I am taking it back to where I bought it, I've had good experiences there and I want a second opinion. I have since noticed if I turn the floor vent on after the top vents are running, it gets slightly colder. I did have clicking noises in my dashboard but I haven't heard them since this winter when I used the heat.

Totally possible. I have a 2004 Chevrolet Impala as a spare car, it consistently blows temps of 45 degrees which I've always been impressed with.

So while I initially thought my problem was fixed, I ended up getting lucky and am working on a different location this week. The Ford dealer down the road will take a look on Friday, I am going to explain my issue and hope they can sort me out. All the more local dealers are still booked out until September. Will update with my findings for anyone interested.

Same issue here. They said it was very over charged with refrigerant from the factory , tricking the compressor into thinking there was a leak so they dye tested it (no leaks) and refilled it , so far so good. I replaced the cabin filter already as well.

good luck-- so far my experience with the ranger ac is very good it cools the little truck off quickly and I live in texas....... so if yours isn't blowing cold there is a reason. hopefully not an expensive reason but somethings up. --- good luck!

Out of silly curiosity have you Washed out the condenser as bugs plug it up and prevent air flow through it . Also are the fins of the condenser straight and not bent over also restricting airflow , I ask as I get the same issues with my Mazda 3 comuter car

Never thought of that! A few do appear to be bent but overall it seems ok. Is there anything in particular that's best to clean it? I can take the grill off easily enough.

Mine is the same here Steve. I have to keep it set to max or it just won't keep up cooling the cab. But we both have more extreme temps than most of the country so I just chalk it up to living on the face of the sun. lol

The only other vehicle I've had out here was my '16 Tacoma and that was much worse. I could drive all the way home from work (usually 12 miles) and still not be cooled off on the max setting. At least the Ranger will keep it cool on max but it'd be nice to be able to turn the fan setting down a little.
have you cleaned out the ac condenser? When they fixed my oil leak they showed me mine had a decent amount of mud and stuff built up

Yeah mine has always worked well but when they did my oil leak fix they had to take it out and cleaned it cause it had some mud and dirt built up in it and it is now noticeably better to the point where it is almost too cold

I'm curious as to why this thread continues on long after the OP stated the issue was 'solved'.

Think I spoke too soon. Was still getting temps over 60 degrees with the a/c on so I'm assuming I still have a problem.

Not really but I'll take a look at it and clean it out. The AC does work well and now that the temp here are down (98-103) it's freezing inside the cab. But when it's 110-115 it's almost impossible to keep it ice cold. Especially when it's been sitting outside while at work all day. Heck even my garage will be 106 at 6:00 am here. ?
