I have an S8+ w/case so it's a heavy phone. It might move just a big if you hit a very hard bump but I have a slightly thinner case and it's rock solid with that one. Since I have wireless charging, I had to move the stick-on round metal plate as low as possible otherwise it would interfere with charging when I put on my wireless charging stands in the house.

Gonna give it a try. Just ordered it.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll let ya know how it works out.

Thank,I'm going to try this one. I have an
iPhone 8+ and every vent holder I've tried falls off because the phone is to heavy. I have a thin Otterbox commuter case and the video on Amazon shows that you can attach the magnetic part on the inside of your case too which is nice.
With a heavy phone, I'd put it on the outside of the case. They come with a couple discs to use but you can quickly pull off and reattach to the outside of the case if the inside doesn't give enough hold.

I used a Nite Ize mount with a short extension I made from acrylic and 3M VHB tape. I was able to file the acrylic to match the slight curve of the radio bezel for better adhesion and gives me more adjustment range to avoid glare. Mine is mounted on the right side of the radio.

Out of all the trucks, the Rangers idea for console space is the worse. The best idea they had would been great if they used the design in the 2017 Escape. A perfect little slot under the dash area.

- Problems with most mounts are all the same. Magnetic limits your case design. Requires metal disk of sort in case or behind phone in case. This limits wireless charging. There is one out there that conquered the idea by making a huge disk that looks like a washer. Enables their wireless charger/mount to work and also your desktop wireless charger to pass through the metal opening.
- Anything of substantial weight will cause vent mounts to drop or slouch.
- Anything 3m taped eventually comes loose due to the weight.
- Cup holders do kinda suck because, well, they do take up a cup holder, especially when there are 2 of ya on a road trip.
Those chowder heads with all the over priced products, Weathertech, seems to think they re-invented the wheel. Cup holders been around forever.
- The ones that clamps on to the sides are bulky and ugly. The new ones with sensors in them that also charge your phone, are flaky too. Sometimes they sense the phone and open/close, sometimes not.

So, all in all, I have a ton of holders laying around from all the years and they all bite.
Here is the one I had in my F150, but now they are not available. Despite the bad reviews, it worked fine.

Still would rather have a place just like the one in the Escape, but oh well.

Cheers...

What is wrong with the dash pocket in front of console where the plug in charger is? Eyes free holder.
Nothing unless you want/need to see the phone screen. For that lil' pocket you mention, I have a retractable charging/sync cable. Also pain in the but to get my mits in there... ;)

I have an iPhone 6S, so no wireless charging and I use an Otterbox case. I cut a hole in the middle of the back of the case and stuck the metal disk to the phone. No issues yet.

Curious, do y'all have CarPlay / Android Auto?

My phone doesn't need to be in sight, but I do wish there was a more snug place to put it, as it slides around a bit in the lower console.

Wondering same - I don't feel the need for anything since the phone works fine either directly connected via USB or bluetooth/Wifi - not sure what I can't get from my phone with either.

In all of these photos I see the large touchscreen which makes me think all of you have android auto or CarPlay. How is a phone mount necessary at all when the screen becomes your phone screen?

I dont like android auto, I like the truck's OEM setup but like to see my phone screen for weather radar and when I'm stopped if I need to reply to a text. I know android auto will but just dont care for it.
