Jmeo where did you get the your quality shrink wrap from, I like your way of doing the wires.
They were left over from a factory Ford pigtail harness I purchased when I converted halogen headlights to factory LED on my 2017 Super Duty. I imagine you should be able to find self sealing shrink wrap on Amazon or eBay. The way it releases the goop to make a waterproof seal is key.

I'm interested, should have been standard equipment for Lariat at least...

Agreed, if you heat shrink all three wire inputs into the post-tap it would be water tight. Most people use them for a nice, quick tap and if going through the effort to use heat shrink, why heat shrink a posi-tap if you can just heats shrink? No argument here, there are many ways to skin a cat :)
Cause the posi-tap is quick, easy, secure, reversible/doesn't require modification of OEM wiring.

The shrink wrap + posi-tap is for peace of mind although, aside from marine use, I think the posi-tap is waterproof enough.

I like the idea of soldering + shrinkwrap; but a lot of applications don't allow to do so conveniently.

I am not disputing you here. Post Taps are great and work well. What I am saying is that they are not waterproof, and I do not like to make connections in doors, or where water is a possibility, using this type connector. I do however like to use them when water isn't a possibility.

If you think they are "waterproof enough", and it makes you happy to use them, that's great. Thats the beauty here, we all get to make our own decisions :like:.

I ended up trying to do the re-wring of the plug and ended up breaking the very first metal tab thingee I tried when trying to reseat it. I got a second one in but it looks like shit and doesn’t seem to go up all the way even though it snapped in place. I give up.

Beyond frustrated.... Anyone know the type of wire metal tab things so I can try and salvage this mess?

Broken tab

Crappily seated second wire. (Second in bottom) . I think I ended up bending the plastic tab in the plug?

I have an extra harness coming. I can rewire it for you and then send it.

You are a fantastic human being. Thank you so much.

Would you like me to send this one back to you tomorrow? I’m sure it can be salvaged with someone with better eyesight and thinner fingers.

Thanks again.

Sure. Spare parts for future repairs is not a bad thing. I'm waiting for the shipment to process out of Australia still. I'll update everyone when I get them.

Is the reason for the group buy an effort to save on shipping or to get a price break? I am late to the party and I definitely want each one of the features this module adds (I also want the auto-folding side mirror module they offer). Can I order directly from Redtek and just pay the additional shipping? @RCMUSTANG has already put in a lot of work to help everyone and I feel bad asking him to do a 3rd round.

RedTek charges 150AUD for these, so even at 80USD, it's a significant price break. And shipping for us is/was only 7.90USD so it's sort of both.

The interest is not as great as the auto fold mirror. And it looks like I'll have to rewire the harnesses myself for future orders. Either I raise the price or let people do it themselves. Some are able to, some are not. I have rewired and repaired several. This one is almost not worth another run for me. If you are interested in the auto fold mirror, I will continue to do runs of 20 or more on those.

If I can order the kit through you and save some money, I can definitely handle the rewire. I'm advanced MECP certified so that's my thing :)

If you need to mark it up as well to make it worth your while, I totally understand.

We'll have to see if more interest happens.
