Hey guys,
I had some o-rings assortment from Harbor Freight.
Got some soap, slipped on a couple over the ignition. Got rid of a significant amount of the wiggle and looks clean. You can easily remove it with a hooked pick if desired.
total cost: .10?
time: 2 mins
That's what happened to be with the other mod: auto up/down windows. Poor connection. The wires are so thin I had to strip .5 inch to get reliable continuity.
Pardon my ignorance, but why the rush to get a spray-in bedliner? Is it to prevent dents?
My understanding is they need to wire wheel (aka scratch) the bed up as prep work before the spray.
So wouldn't it make more sense to get the spray-in after the bed is beat up a bit?
Cause the posi-tap is quick, easy, secure, reversible/doesn't require modification of OEM wiring.
The shrink wrap + posi-tap is for peace of mind although, aside from marine use, I think the posi-tap is waterproof enough.
I like the idea of soldering + shrinkwrap; but a lot of applications...
Got the module today; installed the module today ~30 minutes.
Good advice earlier about removing the trim from the display side: stuck a trim removal tool inbetween the panels; twist and voila! Came right off.
Okay. Finally got to it work. Turns out my posi-taps were not experiencing full continuity.
Long story short, i had to strip ~.5 inch of wire from the module to feed into the posi-taps. And now it works.
I took some pics and details for those interested in the install...
Hey Guys,
Got my window module installed (correctly). These pics were during and/or post installation. Hopefully they will be of help and/or answer any questions that some may be wondering.
A few tips:
1. take your time. Set aside ~2 hours
2. Give thought to where you will stow the relay box --...
No matter how many times i've removed trim and panels off cars, I will never get over the snapping/cracking sounds.
It's like fingernails on a chalkboard.
Nice, t4th.
A few thoughts/suggestions:
1. at the door trim removal (3:05), there is a hole/vent on the underside towards the bend. I'd suggest start taking it off from there --- good place to have leverage and any fasteners that pop off will hopefully find its way on the ground instead of...
So that's a second confirmation the auto-up does not work.
Also, I assume when leaving the car with windows ajar, pressing lock does not roll up the windows as well (related to the auto-up feature)?
