Are you saying that the lock button no longer works? I guess the way it works now kind of sucks anyways, so not much of a loss if so.
From the Redtek product page:

NOTE: This module disables the rear window lock to enable all windows to close on lock. This may not be suitable for people that have small children.

If you push the lock out button it just disables the one touch. The windows will still function from the rear switches.

PROBLEMS:

Okay, I did the install tonight. The install warrants some discussion -- it's not a 20 minute job. Some thought needs to go into it. But that's for another time.

So what functions do we have that is verified for the Ranger? The green is tested and working. Red is for issues.

I did the install; tested that all windows behaved properly in relation to their designated button. <<< WORKS

1. one touch operation on all windows. Quick press rolls up/down all the way. <<< WORKS.

2. Auto window up. When you exit the car with the windows ajar/rolled down, pressing the lock button should trigger the auto roll up. << DOES NOT WORK
  • HOWEVER, when I press unlock to enter the car, the windows rolls up. This function seems to be backwards.
3. unlock + unlock + unlock: rolls all windows down. WAS WORKING; then now only driver and passenger rolls down.
  • And after a minute of inactivity, it's supposed to auto-lock the car and roll up the windows. <<< DOES NOT WORK
4. Have not tried the ventilation function <<< Unknown

Anyone not able to do the harness successfully let me know and I'll get replacement harnesses asap and sent out. Those that have already sent the harness back I'll let you know as soon as I get it rewired and on its way back to you. Also, let me know any who have successfully installed so I can get a count of how many harnesses to request.

As I posted in my build thread I found a one touch open/ close module for all windows and remote open, close and vent. It's plug in module that goes between the switch and harness and 2 wires tapped into the lock/latch harness. The install can be done without removing the door panel completely. Same procedure I outlined in my one touch down module on the passenger side with pictures except you don't have to pull the whole thing off. Just the bottom enough to access the latch harness and mount the module. I attached the module to the inside of the door panel with 2 way tape so it won't rattle around. Chime in here if you're interested in the module. Comes complete with instructions.

Pricing will depend on how many units ordered at the same time plus shipping to you. Regular price is around $105 USD plus shipping. I'm trying to get the pricing around $80 + shipping.

Did I miss the post where the lock/unlock signal wires are stowed? I'm getting myself hyped up to tear the door panel off, and it's the only thing that's still making me nervous :)

I just ran them where they wouldn't catch or hang loose.

Can anyone else verify these issues ? I won't be installing mine until I get it to the dealer for a slow window up/down

I need to trouble shoot with him that the 2 lock wires are connected to the right place.

I mean physical location of the plug. Maybe it will be obvious once I get in the door?
You're going to have to peel back the sound/weather damping held onto the door panel by a black/sticky glue. I believe it called butyl glue. you can reuse this gummy glue. The wiring resides near the door latch assembly.

It's not hard; but there are some considerations. Two things I suggest:

1. take your time and remove the door panel completely.
2. You're going to have to give some thought on where to store the relay box; and how to keep it from rattling -- longterm.

I've pulled the sticky glue on other cars, not my favorite thing to do. I figure some 3M tape should keep it mounted. Maybe I'll find something to tape it and zip tie it to.

Thanks for the clarification.

Or you could buy it for peace of mind -- it's relatively cheap. I have some left over from modding my WRX. You don't need it -- could be reused. But for those who like to do things solid. :)

Search for "Butyl Sealant Tape" on amazon.

The glue on my 2005 Jeep was still soft, I assume this one will be OK. It's nasty stuff though, and it's always hard to get that stupid plastic back on properly.

Heat up the butyl with a heat gun on the outside of the plastic when you re-apply it. Then just push everything in place. Did that with my F150 few times.
