Oil dilution issue making me cancel purchase..

Mine definitely did have the issue but the dealer diagnosed it (correctly) as a leaking HPFP.

That was 10k miles ago and Zero issues with it since.

With as much as I've been offered for this truck over what I paid for it, I'm either real dumb or real fond of it.

Maybe a bit of both?

Oil in the fuel !
Fuel in the oil ?
Right side is higher than the left...
Left side is higher then the right...
2 piece lug nuts...
Bed attached crooked.....
Bed on straight, rest of truck is crooked....
Clunks from somewhere...unknown location...
Squeaks from somewhere...unknown location.....
All these and more have been brought up numerous times, in one form or another, and there maybe some occurring, but certainly not to every truck.
Have had mine for almost a year, and have not had one problem , not one squeak, clunk, drip, gas smell in oil ect ect ect. I don't baby it, I tow a heavy travel trailer with it, and I would buy another Ranger tomorrow (but don't need too cause the one I have is perfect)

OK I hit 1K miles today and had to do the sniff test. Oil level looks fine, but it does smell a little fishy or um Gassy? I will be changing the oil soon and I not worried about it at all there are too many out there without issues. BTW what is as a leaking HPFP.?

I was about to plunk down the down-payment and go ahead and buy my silver '22 Xlt Ranger but after coming across all the oil dilution issues (reading through the threads) I'm afraid I'll have to cross this otherwise great truck off my shopping list. I want something that has some longevity to it; something that I can trust to get me to 150k+. Is this decision just? Are these engines wearing out before 100k due to insufficient lubrication?

Problem is I don't like any other options. I hate the Tacoma, Frontier is too small and doesn't look good, and the Chevy has rock hard seats and no tech. Frustrated. Maybe the '23 ('24?) model will not have this issue?

Thoughts? Am I nuts? lol

YES, you are nuts, to base your decision to buy a product on a opinion based forum is lazy research.

WAIT....YOU SMELL FISH IN YOUR OIL ????
Now you've done it...as if the occasional member smelling gas wasn't enough, now some will start smelling fish, which could mean that there are dead fish in the crankcase.
How much damage that will be found will all be dependent on the type of fish, size of aforementioned fish, and the sex of the aforementioned fish.
See what you started !!!

Then again, if you do an oil change, and this drains out, you definitely have a problem.....

You might be assuming that # of questions is proportional to # of actual problems.
I have not seen ONE confirmed case of engine failure due to oil dilution. I has a motorcycle that used to do this to me. The carbs would overflow, and because of carb / manifold geometry, the excess fuel would fall into the cylinders, and drain into the crankcase. The only operational symptom I experienced was that it would run super rich after it got warmed up and all that fuel started evaporating out of the oil.
I would not cross it off my list due to a POSSIBLE issue, especially one as easily detectable and correctable as this.

Just finished a 1600 mile round trip in my 21 in the Smokeys. I don’t think you can buy a better mid size than the current Ranger.
The truck is comfortable, fuel efficient, powerful, and has capabilities superior to full size trucks 5-10 years ago. It handled the mountains like a small diesel, and was very comfortable for 9 hours on the highway.
Change the oil every 5k and rotate the tires and you will be fine.
Mine has 9800 on it now and would recommend to anyone. Only truck comparable to the Ranger are full size if you wan to drive a land yacht.
