I have seen lots of talk of these on this forum. I'm not trying to offend anyone, but what's the point? I truly don't see the point of this and I'm looking for an explanation. Maybe I need it and don't know...
You're not very imaginative are you? Not meaning to be offensive, but your comment is lacking any sense of irony.

Aluminum? Thought all the panels were steel, at least what I was told.
The hood, front fenders and tailgate are all aluminum. The rest is steel.

Because I don't want it slamming down when my wife goes to get groceries in or out of it, and she cannot be trained. Plus If I'm carrying something heavy, I might be able to work the latch, but I can't stop the tailgate from falling on me, or whatever I'm carrying. It's somewhat convenient to be able to pop it and step back, then load whatever in.

By no means necessary, just "more" convenient than without it.
Exactly!:) Wife can't be trained:LOL::LOL::LOL:

The fenders have some iron in them. At least that's what the magnet test I just did tells me.

In my case, I want it just because my Colorado has it. I don't really want a whoopsie trying to remember which does and doesn't have it.

My Tacoma was the first truck to have one. After having it for almost 4 years it's a hard habit trying not to just let tailgate drop freely now.

I ask my passenger(s) to not slam my doors...if they do, last ride...:wink:

I just found the install video for the F 150 but the install should be the same for the Ranger. Very clean look.

Who's going to be the first member to break their $1,200 taillight while installing a $50 damper?
