The MACH-E (#notamustang) is one of the ugliest vehicle Ford has ever made. I saw one at an auto show and was severely underwhelmed. BTW, there was absolutely no crowd or interest around it.

I can’t help but read, “Mustang Mach E” as “Mustang Mockery”.
not a fan of how auto companies are misusing fan- favorite names for sales like Blazer, Cherokee and now Mustang... but the Mach-E does look really cool otherwise!
and these aggressive ads have got to go!!!!
Won't have to worry about that one much longer as that name now offends people.

Soon PETA will be demanding that animal names can't be used for a vehicle as it's demeaning to the animal.

I was raised in Hawaii- a melting pot of cultures. One thing that brought us together was laughing and joking. Our cultural differences were laughed about but we all knew they were just jokes and didn’t mean one was better than the other.Or at least I thought it did. Now it’s different- people get offended easily. But it’s not my place to say what they can or can’t be offended about. Many arguments end up sounding as if person B was offended that person A was offended. “I’m offended that you’re offended”.
personally I would be honored if a truck was named the “Kanaka” but I’m sure people would label that as cultural appropriation and their concerns are no less valid than mine.
Maybe Aragorn and Drizzt will have something to say about the Ranger?

Kind of. In the end it's the customers' sandbox and the money makes the rules. Time will tell I guess.
You kind of have a point. Remember when Ford renamed their new Sedan as a "Ford 500" and that was an issue? Customers wanted a Taurus.. just because "We've always bought a Taurus, we don't want a Ford 500".

"The Taurus, of course, has been an icon for Ford and its customers," Mulally told the AP. "The customers want it back. They didn't want it to go away. They wanted us to keep improving it."

Ha! I forgot about that!!!! It's particularly funny because the previous generations of the Taurus weren't wildly popular, and Ford wanted to distance itself from that. And the customer wanted it!

My wife and I flew from St. Petersburg, Russia to Moscow on Aeroflot Airlines, and I noticed the old hammer and sickle on everything; the airline's signs, on the (very attractive!) stewardess's uniforms, on the cabin bulkhead, etc.. I asked about this and the answer surprised me. They still use that antiquated and defunct symbol because the customers are used to it. It's familiar to them. They associate it with a government era when things like the airline were run with military precision. It gave me a chuckle!

I've spent a lot of time behind the wheel of the various Mach E variants. Simply put, they're incredible daily drivers. You really can't beat them from a practicality, performance, & ease of use standpoint. No, they can't go on cross-country road trips (well, they technically can.) But for an everyday car... gobs of instantaneous torque, near zero maintenance, ultra smooth & quiet, very comfortable, etc... they're as good as it gets.

What other Ford can you cold start in your driveway and instantly burn-out of the neighborhood... no catalyst heating, no waiting for coolant & oil to come up to temp, no weird cold transmission shifting... nothing. Just start it & floor it. And damn the GT pulls hard...

"Mustang" is whatever Ford says it is. You can still buy a 5.0L. If you don't want the same car you always had, because it has a sibling now... well good for you.

Nicely worded. The best of both worlds. I remember when people groaned and moaned when fuel-injection made it's way to the mustang. "Performance days were over" etc....

See if you can talk the wife into the GT Performance Pack... same 0-60 as the new GT500...
That maybe one reason why it's a Mustang. The story goes no other vehicles in the Ford lineup are allowed to be faster than a Mustang. Hence the Boss 429 was homologated in a Mustang and not the Torino which was the car they used in NASCAR.

Talking the wife into a GT would be no problem. She (and myself) really love the front end on that one. Grill and ground effects look much better. Now getting Ford credit to agree to my budget might be a "slight" little problem. lol

I'm one of those that is not so happy about the Mach-E. To me, it looks like a sporty, but porky, station wagon. Ford is rolling the dice with the notion they can sell these if they brand it with something already established to be exciting. It's a strategic marketing gamble but I can tell you it's already had the effect of "watering down the brand." Ford seems to be doubling down on their gambit with talks they want to further expand on the Mustang brand by adding a smaller Mach-E electric SUV. They want to add more SUVs to the Mustang family.

Is the Mach-E a cool vehicle? YES! In my opinion it is. Is it a Mustang? HELL NO! And I'll tell you up front, I welcome an all-electric or PHEV Mustang. It should be a sporty coupe or fastback. Not an SUV or station wagon, in my opinion.

I fell in love with Mustang a long time ago. I think it was around 1991. My parents were shopping for a new car for my mother and we looking at the Fox body Mustangs, but ended up with a 5.0 Camaro RS. Then my parents traded the Camaro for a 1995 Mustang, in 1994. It was a V6, but it was the new SN95 design, and in my town it was one of the coolest looking cars on the road and it got a lot of attention. In 1998 they traded the V6 for a new 1998 Mustang GT with manual. I learned how to drive a stick just so I could have the opportunity to drive that car. That car was later traded for 2000 GT with an auto. Still a nice car! Fast forward to 2014, and I finally got my own Mustang. I flew from Atlanta to Baltimore to buy a new GT with 6-speed manual, and I still own that car. My parents had moved overseas for several years, but eventually ended up back state-side, and now own a 2016 coupe and 2017 convertible (both V6 cars). My man cave is referred to as "The Mustang Shrine" by my wife and is covered in Mustang stuff.

The point? I love Mustangs. I love the brand and the image. Four door station wagons aren't a part of that image; it just doesn't fit. Mustang's "brand" isn't the Mach-E. I seem to recall GM playing with this type of "brand engineering" and they labeled products as brands that the actual product woefully failed to represent. All of those attempts failed.

Now, here are some images of my beloved Mustang! You can tell it's a real mustang because of the fastback styling and because it only has two doors. ?

Damn I love this car!
