I got the new MBS funnel to test for the ranger and looks great. I’m going to drop the pan and install the PPE stock depth pan and fill it back up using the slick new funnel Mike designed for our rangers with his also very slick dipstick. I did a test fit and it’s perfict.

So hey, the design was a collaboration between me and Msfitoy, I put him on the task and he designed it, I only added in a minor change, it's his handiwork.

I ordered 300 of those funnels, 160 of them showed up distorted, the mfg says the train ride from the mfg district to the port must have been really high temp. I thought about that, how can a train get up to over 212F? I think the CAD file was smoothed to use less material and they are too thin and distorted from the weight, the sample I got was thick and robust with facets in the wall.

Anyways, I got a bunch of crap funnels and some good, I sent out a few for field testing, but really Barry/2021Ranger is the only 5G member who got one.

I'm glad it looks good, put it to the test!!!

@Fitzmotor Just wanted to tell you that I had the Fitzmotor transmission dipstick installed on my 2020 Ranger the other day by my personal mechanic - and then took the truck to my local Ford shop here in Mesa, AZ (Larry H. Miller) to have the transmission fluid and filter changed, and the technicians LOVED it!!

They gave me exactly 0% hassle with the upgrade, and told me that they have seen a number of examples of other companies with aftermarket solutions that make sense like this - and it definitely made their jobs easier on my Ranger.

Great work sir!!

I love mine, love being able to monitor the fluid levels while towing.

The funnel design is quite nice. Regarding temps getting high in train freight cars... Back in high school I worked at a small family owned door and window manufacturing plant in Homestead, Fl, 35 miles south of Miami.

We'd get a shipment of hardwood doors on a regular basis. They'd come in a single freight car and we'd spend 2 days unloading it. We literally opened the side door and removed the doors from the car to a 30' enclosed truck (think the big Penske rentals) backed up to the door.

Since I was the smallest kid they sent me into the freight car to push out the doors. They were stacked flat to within 18" of the ceiling. I can tell you with some authority that the temps in a freight car in the Florida sun can indeed reach those levels.

We'd open the doors and wait a couple of hours before I'd go in, and even then it was extremely difficult to work in that heat. The doors were heat soaked. I'd lay on my belly pulling myself in and push the doors over to the opening which allowed the big boys to unload them. Once the level dropped enough to allow the big guys in I went off shift.

The heat was INCREDIBLE. I moved as fast as I could and usually had enough moved in 30 minutes to be able to crawl out. I was wet with sweat from the top of my head to the bottoms of my feet! Heavy gloves were essential.

I hated that part of the job. Opening that freight car door was like opening the door of an oven!

I also love my MBS stick! I sent a sample of fluid out to be tested and it came back with high aluminum content. They suggested I change the fluid and test after another 30K miles. The MBS stick made this a simple operation. I can't imagine trying to do this without the dipstick. Thanks Fitz!

I planned on offering them free to previous customers, just pay shipping, but it may have to wait until the next batch, out of 300 of them 160 were crap and the ABS material is questionable, so I don't want anyone having to pay even shipping on these.

I am getting closer, I have found some local test fit mules for both Bronco and F150, I will get going on it after Thanksgiving next week.

Thanks for your interest! And keep rattling my cage?

You know what, I do have to get back to that, after wrestling with the mfg about a refund, they did agree to somewhat refund me for the 160 bad funnels (out of 300) when I say bad, I mean egg shaped, the mfg said "just reheat them and reshape them" and out of 300, only 50 were actually round, I'm shipping the the dipsticks with the best of the 140, but they all have some egg shape to them.

The other issue, they are poor quality, at least in my opinion, I know I am picky, but I want something that you get in the dipstick kit and say, "this is really nice and it and it works great, just like the dipstick!" So to me it's it's quality dipstick, with a low quality funnel.

They require a lot of prep, they have flashing inside I have to scrape out, then bottle brush them, then shorten the tip as most of them are chipped, scotchbrite the tip to clean up the O ring grooves, flush them with brake clean and blow them out really fast to clean and seal up the inside wall, so they have a lot of issues.

The ABS material may not be the best choice either, brake clean does attack the surface if exposed too long, 212F is the ABS temp limit, will that hold up to sitting in the dipstick on a hot engine, on 115F degree day?
I attached a big ATTENTION notice to each funnel I ship, stating it's a new product and the concerns, so far nobody has said it turned into a melted blob on their engine.

So I am concerned someone would pay 10-15$ shipping and go "Hmm, this is a egg shaped thin POS"

The other option is to try and heat them up to 212F and reshape them to make them more presentable, I would have to make a buck/mold and do them one at a time, a stupid amount of work for a sub par part, and I will have to buy an oven, as my wife will flip if I pollute the oven with ABS fumes.

So, where is all this rambling is going? I will happily ship out funnels to previous customers, just cover the shipping, they are a perfect fit, the function is great, the rest of it is less than optimal.

Message me if you are interested, get me all your shipping info and email, it wont be right away as I have to prep the funnels and go get some boxes, or chop up dipstick boxes and Thanksgiving is next week.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

I am interested in the funnel, but in no hurry. Mike, do what you do best. And take your time. I'll purchase when you are satisfied with your product.

Thank you again for your work.

You and ctechbob saved my transmission. And that is not an over the top statement. It is simply the truth.

12K miles of increasingly very serious transmissions issues, followed by 7K miles of silky smooth shifts. The difference is you two gentlemen.
