This may not be helpful, but if I was looking for "big" numbers, I would be finding a good Ford loving tuning shop and get a proper dyno tune. I would never run a flash performance tune without logging some roadway runs and sending the logs to whatever handheld tuner company you are using.
You do make some valid points here and that is why I muself recommend reputable tune companies like Livernois, Ford Performance and Rousch.

Everyone…. ENOUGH ALREADY. Both sides are coming across as juvenile and ya’ll are making new members like me question if we’re in the right spot. We’re all here because we like and/or drive Rangers. I never saw crap like this in the Wrangler forums.
Can someone with relevant information please get this thread back on topic?

Yea however that's not an APG kit. This truck had the front long travel retaining 4wd and the rear links with bed cage all made at kibbetech. Kibbetech is very expensive because they have a lot of machined aluminum parts.
Here's a link to someone describing the truck, https://www.drivingline.com/articles/2020-ford-ranger-rtr-fun-runner/
This is the coolest ranger build so far, but for that money I would be pushing more than 15 and 18 inches of travel.
For comparison, the gen 3 raptor has:
With 35's: 14 and 15 inches of travel
With 37's: 13 and 14 inches of travel
I still don't know what gen raptor OP was referring to because the gen 3 has a 5 link which is superior to leaves. Unless you have the rare super dialed leaf spring truck.
Well yeah I was just making the point that the mods on that truck are well over $50k and I am guessing it is a lot heavier than a stock Ranger and they were happy with the motor as it was. I believe it was stock or with a Ford tune but supposedly in the video they mentioned it was basically a stock motor.

I drove a stock wrangler with just 33's and it was like driving a slow brick. I felt everything in the rode and it took forever to get up to speed.

I've never seen the forum like this everyone just got.tired of frenchy hopping on every thread recommending parts that are irrelevant as well as bashing certain companies. So this thread got in the crossfire not a big deal.

I'm stuck between 5star and unleashed.

Yea I was still left a little unimpressed. I mean it's a great truck, I don't mean to bash it. But for the price, you should be able to jump that thing lol. And yea I think it was stock or just had the FP tune. It was regeared tho so there's that for speed.

I recant my previous statement a little. It was built as a desert runner and a rock crawler so that is hard to achieve and I give them props.

Just to make things clear sir I have no problems giving information that is correct to the person asking said questions. For this thread for example you notice how I do just that while even mentioning a few companies I do not recommend and why I dont recommend them. Does that mean that person will listen to what I say? Not necessarily but I'm sure they will take the time to process the information.

Right after making said post others decided to go crazy and pull some BS complaining instead of being helpful and providing information to said person asking for information.

And as much as I hate to say it this is common on quite a bit of Forums out there.

Yeah I think the thing that bugs me most about the Ranger is the throttle input lag, keep hearing how that gets way better with all these tunes. I already use 91 so I would appreciate the extra HP/TQ of a tune. The throttle input devices seem quite expensive considering another $300-400 and I get actual power gains, otherwise they are probably all I actually need.

If what I feel is actually turbo lag, then gears should help too but for sure a tune should be where I start.

I have always put shell 93 nitro since I drove it off the lot. The thing moves, even with 33's. With long travel up front and deavers in the rear the front lifts up when I floor it and it looks sweet, I get told this quite often. I always get a thumbs up or someone rolling down the window asking what the hell it is I'm driving or a quick hey nice truck when I park and get out. When I floor it next to a Chevy revving at me or a dodge trying to roll coal I have not once gotten behind them I always pass them in open road I don't weave through traffic. This is only using 93 octane, a mishimoto performance intake with 50% more mass flow rate, and a mbrp catback exhaust. I don't have a downpipe yet and I don't have the mishimoto intercooler and pipes yet. Add a 5 star or unleashed tune to that and I will be hell on wheels. It's just different than a full size truck. Even though my body is 9 inches wider and my track width is 10 inches wider than stock I still can bust a u-turn on a 2 Lane road and it handles amazingly well because it is lighter than a full size truck. I can turn down the compression on all shocks and soak up the road or crank it down to stiff and go over 100 on the highway with no body roll and feel planted. Building a ranger is way better than owning a built truck from the factory in my, and only my opinion. The only thing after the mods I listed would be a bigger compressor wheel on the turbo and I hear about injectors so I would learn about that and I've heard about colder spark plugs with a different size gap. What else is there, hmm a 2.0 bottom end and a camshaft from mountune and maybe there pistons and rods and just put everything they offer in a cart and break the bank.
At the end of the day if you want a raptor you're gonna buy a raptor and if you want the ranger you're gonna keep the ranger.
When I was debating between long travel and mid travel I knew deep down I wanted long travel and that's what I got.

Between the two tunes you are looking at I'm getting a feeling you will probably be better off with the Unleashed Tune. I have seen good reviews on here and have yet to hear of any issues that I'm aware of. Thats my input.

Frenchy I have never had a problem with your comments because I think it's one of those it's not what you say it's how you say it things and on a forum there is no how you say it so that gets lost and you can come off a certain way that you may not want to that is all. I know because I am the same way what I am thinking doesn't always come out how I want it to and it sounds bad.

It's kind of like texting. You can text something but the receiver can interpret it a totally different way. Then there are those who can just articulate what they want to say better than others. And I think we've all opened our mouth when we shouldn't have and regretted it later. lol

I’ve heard that 3” down pipes and car back help with turbo lag… is that true?

To an extent. In reality most turbochargers from the factory start boost around 2,000 RPMs. Of course this will very by manufacturer and vehicle. One thing that does help the Ranger(and other vehicles) is the fact its a twin scroll so it will try to build boost quicker. If anything a less restrictive exhaust will help the turbo spool quicker but it may not be as quick as you are hoping.

5 Star has been terrific for me. I've used their tunes on 3 turbo F-150's and 2 Rangers. I find customer service to be excellent. Their pricing is also very good.
My experience with tuning Ford trucks goes back to 2011. Livernois has a good reputation, the only complaints I ever heard about them were about their proprietary hardware at the time.
The other tuning company regularly named in this thread actually had a very spotty track record, their tunes made good power but they had a host of other problems including damaging engines and a reputation of bad customer service. Checking the F-150 forum archives will confirm this.
I do not know the very recent state of any company, other than 5 Star. I stick with them because of the history I'm aware of.

There is this veeery deep growl that I get when I'm giving it gas in a higher gear and instead of downshifting it slowly gets up to speed man the exhaust sounds so nice just deep. If I push the pedal harder I'll hear the turbo spool up but just before that if I hold the pedal there is no spool and no gear change just a deep growl. Sounds great through a tunnel too. Just a remark.
